Over here on the Space Coast of Florida, we are all a-buzz with excitement. On May 4, 2009 Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas will quietly slip into her berth at 6am hereby making her new home at Port Canaveral. Sailing from Port Canaveral, the Freedom will cruise year-round 7-night eastern and western Caribbean itineraries.
Open to the public, the Sail-A-Bration event begins at Jetty Park at 4PM until 6PM. Free admission is possible by bringing a non-perishable food item donation for the Brevard Sharing Center. Gifts will include a commemorative flag to wave bon voyage to the Freedom as she sets sail on her first cruise to the Caribbean from her new homeport. Live TV and radio coverage by local and Orlando media. Food and beverages will also be available.
I will be onboard the Freedom of the Seas to cover the Plaque and Key Ceremony at 11am. Look for my Tweets!
