Rumor Has It. Westminster Kennel Club “Best in Show” Winner Awarded Transatlantic Crossing on Queen Mary 2

Ah, it’s a dog’s life. At least it is for Rumor, a female German Shepherd who took home Best of Show award at the 2017 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show last week.

For the first time, Cunard sponsored this year’s dog show and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. After a $132 million dollar refit last year on their flagship Queen Mary 2 , they increased the amount of kennels for their onboard canine and feline guests.

Cunard is the only cruise line in the world with onboard kennels, not to mention an animal-loving Kennel Master. Passengers on transatlantic crossings can reserve one or more of 22 kennels so their dog or cat can travel with them.

Also added were an owner’s lounge and a new pet playground. An extended outdoor area for dog walking cleverly features a lamppost from Liverpool and fire hydrant from New York, to create a touch of home.

Cunard awarded Rumor an invitation to sail on a transatlantic crossing on Queen Mary 2, during a presentation New York’s Times Square. Rumor will join the ranks of other celebrity dogs who have sailed with Cunard including Elizabeth Taylor’s pampered pooches and Hollywood film star Rin-Tin-Tin.
