Norwegian Aura: Everything You Need to Know About NCL’s New Ship

Norwegian Cruise Line is getting ready to welcome its biggest ship yet. The Norwegian Aura will start sailing in mid-2027 with cruises in the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

Here’s what you need to know about this new vessel and where it will sail.

Starting in the Mediterranean

The Norwegian Aura is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The ship will kick off its career with a seven-night Mediterranean cruise on May 21, 2027.

The inaugural voyage departs from Trieste, Italy and ends in Barcelona, Spain. Along the way, guests will visit Valletta in Malta, plus Salerno and Civitavecchia in Italy.

Crossing the Atlantic

After its first week at sea, the ship heads to America. On May 28, 2027, the Aura will leave Barcelona for a 13-night transatlantic journey to Miami.

The crossing includes stops at three European ports: Cádiz, Motril, and Gibraltar. Guests will enjoy eight full days at sea during this voyage.

Arriving in the United States

The Norwegian Aura will make its U.S. debut on June 14, 2027. This Prima Plus-class ship will offer a five-night cruise from PortMiami to the Bahamas and Caribbean.

The short cruise visits Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line‘s private island in the Bahamas. The itinerary also includes one day at sea.

Eastern Caribbean Summer Sailings

Starting June 19, 2027, the ship begins weekly eight-night Eastern Caribbean cruises. These sailings leave Miami every Saturday throughout the summer.

The itinerary features four ports of call. Guests visit Puerto Plata, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, and Great Stirrup Cay.

Western Caribbean for Fall

The Norwegian Aura switches to Western Caribbean cruises on October 30, 2027. These seven-night sailings continue through the 2027-28 winter season.

The Western Caribbean itinerary includes four destinations. The ship stops at Roatán in Honduras, Harvest Caye in Belize, and Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico. All cruises depart from Miami.

What Makes the Aura Special

The Norwegian Aura will be the largest ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. As a Prima Plus-class vessel, it will offer more space and amenities than other ships in the fleet.

The ship promises to bring new experiences to both Caribbean and Mediterranean cruisers. More details about onboard features and dining options will be announced as the launch date gets closer.
