Carnival Cruise Line is breaking new ground with an exciting announcement. The cruise line will visit Africa for the first time during its 2027 summer season.

The Carnival Sunshine will make history as the company’s first ship to dock on the African continent. The ship will stop in Tunisia and Morocco as part of its Mediterranean itineraries.

New Mediterranean Cruises Feature African Ports

Carnival will offer several cruise options ranging from seven to ten nights. These voyages will showcase the best of the Mediterranean region.

One standout itinerary departs from Barcelona, Spain, in June and September 2027. This eight-night roundtrip cruise visits five countries across the Mediterranean.

Guests will explore La Goulette in Tunisia alongside popular European ports. The itinerary also includes Naples and Palermo in Italy, Ajaccio in France, and Marseille.

Transatlantic Journey Includes Morocco Stop

The Carnival Sunshine will also visit Tangier, Morocco, during its return trip to North America. This 13-night repositioning cruise departs Barcelona in mid-October 2027.

The transatlantic voyage ends in Miami after visiting several Spanish cities. Passengers will also stop at Alicante, Málaga, and Grand Turk in the Cayman Islands.

Back-to-Back Cruise Options Available

Carnival designed the European season for travelers who want extended vacations. Guests can combine multiple sailings to visit even more destinations.

The summer deployment covers seven countries total. Ships will visit ports in Italy, Spain, France, Turkey, Montenegro, Tunisia, and Morocco.

More than 15 departures are scheduled throughout the season. Cruises will sail from three home ports: Barcelona, Civitavecchia (Rome), and Dover.

Special Solar Eclipse Cruise Planned

The 2027 season runs from May through October. One unique sailing will offer prime viewing of a rare solar eclipse.

The special cruise positions the ship along the path of maximum visibility. This celestial event takes place in August 2027.

Fall and Winter Plans

After its European adventure, the Carnival Sunshine will move to Galveston for Caribbean cruises. The ship will offer both four-night and ten-night voyages from Texas.

Carnival Doubles European Fleet

Carnival is expanding its European presence significantly in 2027. The cruise line will operate two ships in the region instead of one.

The Carnival Miracle will also sail Mediterranean and Northern Europe itineraries. This gives travelers more options for exploring Europe by sea.

The addition of African ports marks a major milestone for Carnival Cruise Line. These new destinations offer American cruisers fresh experiences in exotic locations they haven’t been able to visit on Carnival ships before.
