MSC Cruises World Cruise Offers Extended Overland Excursions

MSC Cruises World Cruise offers extended excursion to Taj Mahal

MSC Cruises World Cruise delves deep into land-locked destinations.

The countdown has begun for the first MSC Cruises World Cruise departure date. The 119-day world cruise will head out from Genoa, Italy on January 5, 2019 aboard MSC Magnifica. The nearly four-month voyage around the world will visit 32 different countries and offers extended stays in port. On average, the MSC Magnifica will remain in port for 13 hours and give guests a chance to really experience the destination.

Included in the cruise fare are 15 selected shore excursions, making up nearly half of the total ports visited with a complimentary excursion. For those who view their cruise as a means to explore deeper into faraway places, MSC Cruises has a curated selection of overland shore excursions. You’ll be able to experience more of a destination and then re-join the ship a few days later.

MSC Cruises Overland Experiences

Excursions, including world-class destinations and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, range from 19 hours to 7 days off the ship. Highlights of the optional overland shore excursions include:

Overland to Bora Bora to stay in the Overwater Bungalows
3 days/2 nights

A chance to experience the iconic overwater bungalows of Bora Bora for two nights. In addition to the luxurious accommodations, Tahitian-style meals, a spa treatment, shark and ray watching trip and lagoon tour is included. Guests may also simply relax on Bora Bora’s amazing beaches.

Werribee Slumber Safari Overnight
About 19 hours

If you’re in search of a little more adventure, there’s the Werribee Slumber Safari in Australia’s Werribee Open Range Zoo. Guests will spend an overnight in a luxury camping experience (glamping!) while overlooking the Werribee River. The wildlife park is similar to an African savannah where rhinos, giraffes, zebras and antelopes are free to roam.

Overland to Maldives via Delhi, Agra and the Taj Mahal
3 days / 2 nights

With a port call in Colombo, Sri Lanka, you will travel north to New Delhi and then to Agra for a tour of the Taj Mahal. Also included is a stay in a luxury hotel en route plus an overnight in New Delhi with time to explore and absorb the sights, sounds and flavors of this ancient city.

Overland to Aqaba via Jordan
7 days / 6 nights

When the ship docks in Muscat, Oman, guests can head overland to Aqaba traveling for six days through Jordan. Included cities are Amman, the capital of Jordan; Madaba; Mount Nebo and the River Jordan. A day will be spent at Petra, the famous archaeological site dating back to over 2300 years. The finale of this week-long excursion includes an overnight to camp under the stars in the desert of Wadi Rum. A vigorous 4-wheel drive across the desert takes you to meet the ship.
