Earlier the week, Carnival Horizon inaugural cruise began from Barcelona, Spain on a 13-day western Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea cruise. Extended port calls in Italy, Croatia, Malta, and Greece are planned. This first cruise begins a series of European cruises from Spain which ends on May 9 when Carnival Horizon departs from Barcelona for a 14-day trans-Atlantic crossing to New York, arriving on May 23.
Carnival Horizon’s big event in the Big Apple
An invitation-only naming ceremony in New York will feature Grammy Award-winning artist and acclaimed actress Queen Latifah. Following the big event, Carnival Horizon will embark on a summer schedule of four-day Bermuda and eight-day Caribbean voyages from New York beginning May 24. Then the new ship will head south to Miami for year-round six- and eight-day Caribbean voyages beginning Sept. 22, 2019.
Carnival Horizon offers a new slant on many of its most popular features and restaurants. This includes a new Dr. Seuss-themed WaterWorks aqua park, Bonsai Teppanyaki, Carnival’s first teppanyaki restaurant, and Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse|Brewhouse serving Guy Fieri’s barbecue favorites, as well as four new craft beers brewed on board.
Carnival Horizon also offers innovations like the bike-ride-in-the-sky aerial attraction SkyRide, an IMAX Theatre, the Havana section with tropics-inspired staterooms and its own pool, and Family Harbor featuring extra-roomy accommodations and the Family Harbor Lounge.
Carnival Horizon also includes food and beverage venues with both indoor and al fresco seating options at Bonsai Sushi, Fahrenheit 555 steakhouse and Library Bar.
The third vessel in the Vista-class series, Carnival Panorama, is currently under construction and set to debut in Long Beach, Calif., in December 2019.
