Your River Cruise Embarkation Day is Here

Welcome Aboard! It’s Embarkation Day!

If you’ve ever taken an ocean cruise, you’ll be amazed at a river cruise embarkation. It is so simple compared to an ocean cruise. Whether you arrive by plane or train, you can pre-arrange a ship transfer to the dock. If you booked your air with the cruise line, your transfers will be included.

If you arrive by train, inquire if the river cruise company can arrange a meet and greet at the train platform. Usually this is possible and the passenger will pay the driver or the cost is added to your onboard account. If not, you can always queue in the taxi rank. Be sure to have the specific docking location written down to show the driver. You can obtain this information directly from the river cruise line within a month of travel.

There’s no long queue at check-in booths. For a river cruise embarkation, all you do is walk aboard your ship and someone at the front desk or a greeter will welcome you aboard. You’ll show your passport and cruise documents, you’ll be handed a keycard and someone will show you to your stateroom.

No need to swipe a credit card upon check-in. During the cruise guests are asked to kindly stop by the front desk at their convenience, usually at the halfway point of the cruise, and to bring their credit card. Until then, any onboard purchases whether at the bar or for optional shore excursions, are simply charged to your room.
