Sailing the Noordam: Your Complete Guide to Holland America's Beloved Cruise Ship

Sailing the Noordam: A Guide to Holland America 28

Holland America Line has launched one of its most ambitious Alaska sailings yet. The Noordam recently set off from Seattle on a 28-night Legendary Alaska Arctic Circle Solstice Voyage.

What Is the Legendary Alaska Arctic Circle Solstice Voyage?

This is one of Holland America’s longest Alaska itineraries. It spans a full month and covers a wide range of ports across Alaska and British Columbia.

The Noordam departed from Seattle and headed north. Early stops included Ketchikan, Sitka, and Icy Strait Point.

Rare Ports Most Cruisers Never See

What makes this sailing truly stand out are two rarely visited ports: Dutch Harbor and Nome. Most large cruise ships never go near these remote Alaskan communities.

Holland America is currently the only major cruise line sailing to Nome. That exclusivity runs through at least 2027, making this a genuinely rare opportunity for Alaska cruise fans.

The ship also visits Valdez, Kodiak, Haines, Juneau, Wrangell, and Prince Rupert. An overnight stay in Anchorage is also part of the schedule.

Stunning Scenery Along the Way

Beyond the ports, the itinerary includes some breathtaking scenic cruising. Passengers will sail near Hubbard Glacier, through the Inside Passage, and past Endicott Arm Fjord.

These are some of Alaska’s most dramatic natural landscapes. You don’t even need to step off the ship to be amazed.

When Does the Voyage End?

The Noordam is scheduled to return to Seattle on July 5, 2026. After that, the ship shifts to Holland America’s seven-night Alaska Explorer itinerary, visiting Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, and Victoria.

More Legendary Voyages on the Noordam

The Noordam isn’t slowing down after Alaska season wraps up. In early September, it sets sail on a 27-night Glaciers & Volcanoes cruise.

That voyage also departs roundtrip from Seattle. It combines Alaska and Hawaii ports, including Anchorage, Sitka, Dutch Harbor, Honolulu, Kahului, and Hilo.

A Big Repositioning Voyage to Cap the Year

Later in 2026, the Noordam heads even farther afield. It will sail a 34-night legendary voyage from Seattle all the way to Sydney, Australia.

The ship will then spend the 2026-27 winter season sailing the South Pacific. Departures will operate out of both Sydney and Auckland.
