Princess Cruises Sets Margarita World Record
Princess Cruises Just Made Margarita History at Sea
Princess Cruises just earned a spot in the Guinness World Records book. The cruise line set a new record for selling the most margaritas in eight hours. Talk about a party at sea!
The celebration happened aboard the Regal Princess on February 17. Crew members mixed and served 3,410 handcrafted 24K Margaritas during the record attempt. That crushed the previous record of 2,728 margaritas.

The Record-Breaking Day
The ship was docked in Cozumel, Mexico, during a seven-day Western Caribbean cruise. The Regal Princess had sailed from Galveston, Texas, with 3,560 guests on board. Passengers lined up at bars throughout the ship to help make history.
Thomas Bradford came aboard as the official Guinness World Records adjudicator. He watched as bartenders shook, poured, and served thousands of margaritas. “You could feel the celebration in every bar of Regal Princess as Princess Cruises made history with a new Guinness World Records title for most margaritas sold in eight hours,” Bradford said.
More Than Just a Record
The timing of this achievement was perfect. The record-breaking event happened during National Margarita Day celebrations. But there’s more to the story than just one day’s sales.
Princess Cruises reached another impressive milestone around the same time. Between January 1, 2025, and January 7, 2026, the cruise line sold over one million 24K Margaritas. That’s 1,038,197 margaritas to be exact.
What Makes the 24K Margarita Special
The 24K Margarita is the most popular signature cocktail across Princess’s entire fleet. Each drink is made with Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila. Bartenders also add Cointreau, Grand Marnier, and margarita mix to create the recipe.
The drink comes served over ice in a salt-rimmed glass. It’s become a favorite among Princess passengers since the cruise line started serving it.
A Successful Partnership
Princess Cruises and Pantalones Organic Tequila launched their partnership in October 2024. The million-margarita milestone came just over one year later. That shows how much guests love this particular cocktail.
Sami Kohen is the Vice President of Food and Beverage for Princess Cruises. He shared his thoughts on the achievement. “Pantalones serves our guests a spirit of joy, storytelling, and easygoing adventure that mirrors the Princess onboard experience,” Kohen said.
He continued: “Celebrating one million 24K Margaritas and making history with a Guinness World Record title on National Margarita Day, captures the incredible spirit and enthusiasm our guests brought to create this unforgettable moment at sea – and now, they’ll forever be part of this unforgettable chapter in Princess history.”
Celebrity Connection
Camila and Matthew McConaughey co-founded Pantalones Organic Tequila together. The famous couple sent a video message to congratulate Princess Cruises. They praised the crew and guests for making history at sea.
The McConaugheys recently served as godparents for Princess’s newest ship, the Star Princess. That christening happened just before this record-breaking margarita event. The partnership between the tequila brand and cruise line keeps growing stronger.
What This Means for Cruise Guests
Princess passengers clearly enjoy their cocktails while sailing. The 24K Margarita gives guests a quality drink made with premium ingredients. You can find it at bars throughout any Princess ship.
If you sail with Princess, you might want to try this famous cocktail. You’ll be part of the ongoing margarita tradition. Plus, you can say you enjoyed the same drink that helped set a world record.
The Regal Princess continues sailing Western Caribbean itineraries from Galveston. Other Princess ships serve the 24K Margarita across the fleet. So you don’t have to sail on the Regal Princess to enjoy this record-breaking cocktail.
