Princess Cruises Brings Alaska Magic to the Rose Parade

Princess Cruises kicked off 2026 with a stunning display at the famous Rose Parade. The cruise line showed off their “Together in the Magic of Alaska” float at the 137th annual parade in Pasadena.

The beautiful float featured their newest ship, Star Princess, sailing through Alaska’s amazing scenery. This special display celebrated the ship’s first Alaska cruise season in 2026.

A Floating Work of Art

The Star Princess float traveled down the entire 5½-mile parade route on Colorado Boulevard. The detailed ship sparkled with silverleaf protea, coconut, blue statice, and lunaria flowers.

The designers took inspiration from Alaska’s natural beauty. They used colors and textures that looked like Alaska’s rugged coastlines and stunning views.

The float came alive with moving Alaskan wildlife. Whales appeared to rise from icy waters while curious sea otters played nearby. Soaring eagles flew overhead as a bear held salmon in its paws. A wild moose stood tall among the landscape.

Impressive Scale and Detail

Artistic Entertainment Services designed and built the massive float. It stretched about 55 feet long and stood 21 feet high. More than 300,000 flowers and natural materials covered the entire display.

The animation brought Alaska’s wildlife to life in gentle, realistic movements. Each animal moved in ways that showed their natural behaviors.

Celebrating Teamwork and Tradition

“What better way to welcome the new year than on the world-famous Rose Parade stage, celebrating the breathtaking beauty of Alaska and the debut of our remarkable new ship, Star Princess,” said Marie Lee, Princess Cruises Chief Marketing Officer.

“Our float pays homage not only to our passionate Princess crew who bring Alaska voyages to life, but also to the local Alaskans — the storytellers, guides, artists, naturalists, and communities — who welcome our guests each season and make every journey extraordinary.”

The parade honored “The Magic in Teamwork” theme this year. Princess used this chance to celebrate their 25,000 crew members and teammates around the world. Four Princess team members rode on the float, including two from shore offices and two crew members.

A Nostalgic Touch

Twelve performers danced along Colorado Boulevard beside the float. They moved to a new version of “The Love Boat” theme song. This was a special nod to Princess Cruises’ role in the beloved TV show.

The Love Boat introduced millions of viewers to cruise vacations. The show helped make cruising popular with American families.
