No Surprise. Norwegian Cancels All Cruises Until October

This morning’s news came as no surprise here.  Along with the other major cruise lines that have suspended all cruises through September, today Norwegian Cruise Line cancels all cruises through September as well.  What about their continued hope to cruise to Alaska this year?

The cruise line’s last hold-out was to bring two ships, Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Joy, from Seattle up to Alaska at the tail end of Alaska’s cruise season.  Given that port restrictions and the surging pandemic situations aren’t improving or expected to improve in the next few months, Norwegian finally made the call to cancel Alaska cruises, too.

What to do if your cruise was canceled

According to an email sent to travel agents, all guests with current and active bookings that are canceled with this latest round of suspensions will automatically receive a refund as a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) for 125% of the fare paid.  This round of Future Cruise Credits will be posted to your account no later than Thursday, July 2, 2020.

You can apply your FCC to a new cruise anytime within one year of issue date.   And you can reserve any cruise though December 31, 2022.

If you prefer a cash refund, a 100% refund for the amount of fare paid will be returned to the original form of payment within 90 days of the request being submitted.  You must use the cash refund form that is available on their website at ncl.com/case-submission/peace-of-mind.   This form will be available beginning on July 6, 2020 at 9:00 am ET until July 17, 2020 11:59 pm ET.
