MSC Poesia Emerges Transformed for Its Alaska Season
Fresh off a major makeover, the MSC Poesia is ready to impress. Here’s what’s new on this newly refurbished ship — and where it’s headed next.
MSC Poesia Gets a Big Upgrade
The MSC Poesia just completed a significant refurbishment at the Palumbo Shipyard in Malta. The ship spent nearly two months at the facility in Valletta. This work is part of a bigger plan to modernize all of MSC’s Musica-class ships.

The 90,000-ton ship originally launched in 2008. The updates bring it much closer to the standards of newer vessels in the MSC fleet.
What’s New Onboard
The MSC Yacht Club
One of the biggest additions is the MSC Yacht Club. This is MSC’s luxury “ship within a ship” concept. It gives guests a more private, upscale experience without leaving the ship.
The Yacht Club on the Poesia includes 62 new suites. Guests also get access to a private sun deck, a dedicated restaurant, and an exclusive lounge.
New Dining Options
Food lovers will notice some exciting new additions. The ship now features Butcher’s Cut, MSC’s American-style steakhouse. There’s also a new space for the Kaito Sushi Bar.
These two dining venues add great variety to the onboard food scene. Whether you’re craving a juicy steak or fresh sushi, you’re covered.
Other Improvements
The casino and gym both got modern upgrades. New equipment and updated layouts make both spaces feel fresh. Staterooms and technical areas were also improved during the drydock.
Where Is the MSC Poesia Sailing Now?
Trans-Atlantic Crossing to Miami
The MSC Poesia welcomed guests back on April 6, 2026. It kicked off with a 17-night trans-Atlantic repositioning cruise. The ship sailed from Civitavecchia, Italy, heading to PortMiami.
Along the way, the itinerary includes stops in France, Spain, and Portugal. Guests also visit the Bahamas and St. Maarten before arriving in Miami.
Panama Canal Voyage
In late April, the Poesia sets sail on its very first Panama Canal cruise. This 18-night journey goes from Miami all the way to Seattle. It’s a rare and exciting itinerary for MSC fans.
The route includes stops in Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, and California. Transiting the Panama Canal is a bucket-list experience for many cruisers.
MSC’s Alaska Debut
Seven-Night Alaska Cruises from Seattle
Starting in early May 2026, the MSC Poesia begins sailing to Alaska. Seattle serves as the ship’s new homeport for this season. These seven-night itineraries are a historic first for MSC Cruises in Alaska.
Stops include Ketchikan, Juneau, and Icy Strait Point. The ship also visits Victoria, British Columbia, and offers scenic cruising at Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier.
Alaska Season 2027
After a winter Caribbean season sailing from Miami, the Poesia heads back north. MSC has already confirmed a second Alaska season for summer 2027. It’s clear that Alaska is becoming a key part of MSC’s North American strategy.
For U.S.-based cruisers, this is great news. Having a major European cruise line sailing from Seattle gives you more Alaska options than ever before.
