MSC Foundation Launches “Oceans Day” for Kids and Families at Sea
MSC Cruises is making ocean education a fun part of family cruising with a brand-new onboard program.
The MSC Foundation has introduced Oceans Day powered by MSC Foundation, a special program designed to help kids and families learn about — and fall in love with — the ocean. The program launched in honor of World Oceans Day and is now rolling out across the MSC Cruises fleet.

What Is the Oceans Day Program?
This isn’t your average lecture about recycling. The program blends learning with hands-on fun, reaching kids in a way that actually sticks.
Daniela Picco, executive director of MSC Foundation, explained the heart of the program: “We believe that if you know the sea, you protect it; everything starts from there.”
The goal is to turn young cruisers into the next generation of ocean protectors. MSC expects the program to reach thousands of children from around the world every year.
Who Can Participate?
Kids aged 3 to 17 can take part in the Oceans Day activities. That’s a wide age range, which means the whole family can get involved — from toddlers to teenagers.
What Activities Are Included?
The program is packed with interactive experiences. Here’s what kids can look forward to:
- Games and quizzes focused on ocean knowledge
- Creative workshops and drawing activities
- Conservation challenges that make learning feel like play
The fun doesn’t stop there. Kids are invited to take part in the “My Wish for the Ocean” initiative, where they make a personal pledge to help protect the sea.
Each child also receives an Ocean Ambassador Passport. It’s filled with real actions they can keep doing once they’re back home.
A Parade to Wrap It All Up
The program ends on a high note — literally. A celebratory parade features kids, music, and upbeat environmental messages. It’s designed to leave a lasting impression long after the cruise is over.
Why MSC Created This Program
MSC Cruises partnered with the MSC Foundation’s entertainment team to bring this program to life. Matteo Mancini, family entertainment development director at MSC Cruises, shared why it matters:
“Through Oceans Day, MSC Cruises is proud to help bring MSC Foundation’s ocean education mission to life onboard, creating meaningful shared experiences that encourage children to better understand and care for the ocean.”
The program is built around three core ideas:
- Celebrating the ocean on every cruise
- Putting children and families at the center of the experience
- Building ocean literacy in fun, memorable ways
A Great Reason to Choose MSC for Your Next Family Cruise
If you’re cruising with kids, this kind of programming adds real value to your trip. Your children won’t just have fun — they’ll come home knowing more about the world’s oceans and feeling motivated to protect them. That’s a pretty great souvenir.
