MSC Cruises is giving its private Bahamas island a major makeover. Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve will get exciting new features and a longer pier by late 2027.
The cruise line wants to make the island experience even better for guests. More restaurants, new beaches, and family-friendly activities are all part of the plan.
What’s Coming to Ocean Cay
The upgraded island will feature four new places to eat and drink. That brings the total number of dining spots to seven.
A new specialty restaurant will join the lineup. Guests can also look forward to expanded buffet options and food market choices.
MSC is adding more cabanas for rent across the island. These private spaces are perfect for families who want a shaded spot to relax.
New Spaces for Families and Adults
Families will love the improvements coming to Seakers Cove Family Beach. The area will get a kids’ playground, splashpad, and water ropes course.
You’ll also find ping-pong and foosball tables at the family beach. These additions give kids and parents more ways to have fun together.
Adults get their own special area called Paradise Sands. This retreat offers a quiet place to relax during the day.
When the sun goes down, Paradise Sands changes into a lively spot. Guests can enjoy cocktails while watching the sunset over the ocean.
Learning About Ocean Conservation
A new experience called the MSC Foundation Shifting Perspective will teach guests about protecting the ocean. Visitors can try hands-on activities like coral restoration.
You’ll also get to explore ocean ecosystems through interactive displays. These activities help people understand why ocean conservation matters.
Mission Blue named Ocean Cay a Hope Spot in 2023. This recognition highlights the island’s role in protecting sea life and supporting ocean biodiversity.
Bigger Pier Means More Ships
Construction crews are already working on extending the pier. The new pier will let two ships dock at Ocean Cay at the same time.
Right now, only one ship can dock directly at the island. The longer pier will help MSC bring more guests to this popular destination.
About Ocean Cay’s History
MSC Cruises opened Ocean Cay in late 2019. The island quickly became one of the most popular stops on Caribbean cruises.
The location started as an old industrial site. MSC transformed it into a beautiful private island getaway.
The cruise line is also working on a second private island next to Ocean Cay. This new island, called Little Cay internally, will offer pristine beaches and upscale amenities.
All these improvements show MSC’s commitment to creating unforgettable vacation experiences. The upgrades will give cruise guests more reasons to choose Caribbean itineraries that include Ocean Cay.
