Two Major Cruise Lines Change Bahamas Routes Due to Bad Weather

Margaritaville at Sea and Disney Cruise Line are making last-minute changes to their Bahamas cruises. High winds and rough seas are forcing both cruise lines to adjust their schedules.

These itinerary changes affect cruises sailing this weekend. Both companies are putting passenger safety first while trying to maintain a great vacation experience.

Margaritaville at Sea Paradise Adjusts Nassau Visit

The Margaritaville at Sea Paradise is departing West Palm Beach today with a modified itinerary. Strong winds in the Bahamas are forcing the ship to change when it visits Nassau.

“Due to forecasted high winds, we have been advised that a safe arrival and/or departure from the Port of Nassau will not be possible as originally planned on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026,” the company said.

The cruise line wants guests to still enjoy their Bahamas experience. “To ensure you still get to experience the sun-soaked fun Nassau has to offer, your sailing schedule has been modified,” Margaritaville at Sea added.

The ship will now arrive in Nassau on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, instead of Sunday. This three-night Bahamas cruise will swap its sea day to accommodate the change.

Guests who booked shore excursions in Nassau don’t need to worry. The cruise line will automatically move these tours to the new date.

“Captain Panagiotis will keep monitoring the weather to ensure the safety and comfort of both our guests and crew, which remains our top priority,” the company stated.

Disney Wish Skips Castaway Cay

Disney Cruise Line is also dealing with the same weather system. The Disney Wish is sailing from Port Canaveral today on a three-night cruise.

The ship was scheduled to visit both Castaway Cay and Nassau. However, weather conditions are forcing a change to these plans.

“We have been monitoring a weather system that will impact our planned stop at Disney’s Castaway Cay,” the company said in a statement to guests onboard.

The cruise line explained the safety concerns in detail. “Given anticipated strong winds and adverse sea conditions predicted in the Bahamas overnight on Saturday and during the day on Sunday, we will not be able to visit Castaway Cay as scheduled,” the letter added.

Disney’s private island visit has been replaced with an extra day in Nassau. Guests will now spend more time exploring the Bahamian capital instead.

Safety Comes First for Both Cruise Lines

Both cruise lines emphasized their commitment to passenger safety. Weather-related itinerary changes are common in the cruise industry during certain times of year.

“The safety and well-being of our guests and crew members is our highest priority. We appreciate your understanding regarding this necessary itinerary change,” Disney stated.

Disney Cruise Line assured passengers they’ll still have a great vacation. The revised itinerary will provide an experience that “guests have come to expect from Disney Cruise Line.”

Guests who booked shore excursions at Castaway Cay will receive automatic refunds. Disney will cancel these reservations and remove the charges from guest accounts.
