Disney’s newest cruise ship has a special Halloween surprise waiting for guests. The Disney Treasure features Ginger, a one-of-a-kind pumpkin tree that you can only find on this ship.

Ginger stands tall in the Grand Hall as the ship’s Halloween centerpiece. She’s covered in glowing pumpkins, twinkling lights, and detailed carvings. This magical tree brings instant Halloween vibes to your cruise vacation.

Ginger’s Magical Story from Agrabah

Unlike other Disney cruise ship trees, Ginger has a unique backstory. She’s a unique species of tree, hailing from the fictional city of Agrabah as seen in Disney’s Aladdin.

The design team worked hard to create the perfect look for Ginger. They wanted her to represent the Middle Eastern region that inspired Aladdin’s hometown.

Philip Kelley, Show Director for Disney Live Entertainment, explained Ginger’s design process. “She started out as sort of as a banyan tree, and then more of a traditional tree with banyan tree inspiration.”

The team made special changes to make Ginger feel authentic to her region. Philip explained that the design of Ginger started to take shape. “The pumpkins elongated a little bit — they look like traditional pumpkins but have more of a look of the gourds that you may see in that region of the world.”

Help Light Up Ginger During Your Cruise

Don’t miss the special show on your first night aboard the Disney Treasure. You’ll get to help Ginger come to life during “The Tale of the Enchanted Pumpkin Tree.”

Two storytellers named Coriander and Sage will be shocked to find a tree in the Grand Hall. Coriander and Sage are going to be quite surprised that a tree has suddenly sprouted in the Grand Hall. They’ll tell you Ginger’s story and explain how the Genie from Aladdin inspired her carved decorations.

Philip shared more about Ginger’s Halloween adventure. “With her design complete, Ginger’s story took a new turn. Halloween traditions are unfamiliar in her part of the world, so our storytellers, Coriander and Sage, introduce her to the fun of trick-or-treating. Together, they discover the joy of transformation and find that at this time of year, things aren’t always what they seem.”

Join in the story to help Ginger understand our trick-or-treat traditions and watch something magical happen in the Grand Hall. After the show, Ginger will glow throughout your entire cruise. She adds special Halloween magic every time you walk through the Grand Hall.

Halloween Trees on Every Disney Ship

Disney puts a special Halloween tree on each of their cruise ships. Every tree has its own name and personality. Here’s what you’ll find on each Disney ship:

The Halloween trees on Disney ships are:

  • Reap on the Disney Magic
  • Bog on the Disney Wonder
  • Grim on the Disney Dream
  • Muckelbones on the Disney Fantasy
  • Boo on the Disney Wish
  • Ginger on the Disney Treasure

Different Trees Tell Different Stories

The older Disney ships have spookier Halloween trees. Reap, Bog, Grim, and Muckelbones look like scary trees from horror movies. Reap, Bog, Grim, and Muckelbones were inspired by the spirit of Ray Bradbury’s beloved story The Halloween Tree.

These creepy trees have mysterious caretakers who tell ghost stories. When the ship leaves port, the trees light up with glowing jack-o’-lanterns. Eerie lights dance on the branches while spooky voices fill the air.

The Disney Wish has a gentler tree named Boo. She’s magical instead of scary. Legend says one of her pumpkins even grew to become the pumpkin carriage that carried Cinderella to the ball.
