Holland America Line has teamed up with Sur La Table to bring a taste of global cuisine from sea to kitchen. This new partnership will host cooking classes at Sur La Table stores across the U.S., inspired by Holland America Line’s extensive travels to over 140 European ports. Participants will enjoy a hands-on experience, working with expert chefs while utilizing Sur La Table’s premium kitchen tools and equipment.
A standout feature of this collaboration is the focus on creating fresh fish dishes, a nod to Holland America Line’s dedication to delivering seafood from port to plate within 48 hours. Under the guidance of top chefs, attendees will learn to craft destination-inspired dishes using global ingredients and techniques, alongside a Dutch dessert celebrating Holland America’s rich heritage. The tempting menu includes dishes like seared salmon with saffron hollandaise, endive and Roquefort winter salad, herbes de Provence, and stroopwafel crème brûlée.
At Sur La Table’s 53 locations nationwide, guests gain access to leading chefs and expert culinary advice at the largest recreational cooking school in the country. Sur La Table offers over 40,000 classes each year, from date nights and kids’ courses to baking and global flavors, teaching more than 425,000 students annually. Every class is fully interactive, ensuring guests have a hands-on culinary experience rather than merely watching a demonstration.
Kacy Cole, Holland America Line’s CMO, shared, “Our Global Fresh Fish program has revolutionized onboard dining, and we’re thrilled to extend that inspiration to Sur La Table classes. It’s a chance for food enthusiasts to savor our global journey flavors without leaving their hometown, showcasing our skills in Destination Dining™.”
Kristin Flor Perret, Sur La Table’s head of brand marketing, added, “We’re excited to welcome Holland America Line’s guests into our kitchens, sharing Sur La Table’s culinary know-how. These classes let you ‘travel’ through food, learning techniques from around the world and receiving valuable tips from our talented chefs. It’s all about our mission to create connections through cooking—make more, gather often.”Starting November 1, 2024, these classes at Sur La Table locations will include:
- Interactive cooking lessons with menus inspired by Holland America Line’s travels
- Expert guides on preparing fresh fish with global flair and a Dutch dessert
- Recipes crafted by culinary teams from both Holland America Line and Sur La Table
This partnership expands on Holland America’s innovative Global Fresh Fish program, which sources seafood from 60 ports to be served on board within 48 hours. The program features 80 varieties of fresh fish across all Holland America Line ship restaurants, offering guests a chance to enjoy destination-specific dishes and local delicacies.
