I’ve been cruising on Celebrity for many years, and it’s been interesting to watch the ups and downs within their beverage department. Slowly and steadily, Celebrity nurtured and grew its wine selection and culinary reputation. And that’s a good thing for people who know wine or those who are just beginning their own wine education.
Now, as a result of Celebrity’s extensive wine program, the cruise line garnered 10 out of a possible 12 honor awards for its unique wine lists featured in both complimentary and specialty restaurants.
“To be chosen by Wine Spectator for ten of the highest honors in the cruise category for the second consecutive year is exciting and reconfirms our commitment to develop a wine program that represents quality, innovation and an unmatched variety in the cruise industry,” said Chanelle Duarte, Beverage Consultant, Celebrity Cruises. “It’s an honor to receive these prestigious awards and to be recognized for having a serious wine program.”
Later, I learned that Celebrity’s main restaurants offer nearly different 400 wines from around the world, selected to pair with their classic and contemporary cuisine as well as representative of their ports of call. The fine-dining specialty restaurants, including Italian-themed Murano and Tuscan Grill, have their own wine list with suggested pairings.
If you’re a wine enthusiast and booked on a future Celebrity cruise, or just thinking about it, it’s a good idea to take a look at their agenda of wine experiences so you can plan and budget ahead of time.
