Carnival Announces Fleetwide Celebrations for the 250th Birthday of America
Carnival Cruise Line is pulling out all the stops to celebrate America’s 250th birthday this summer. Here’s everything you need to know about the festivities.
Carnival Is Going Big for America’s 250th
Carnival has announced a full lineup of events to mark the historic milestone. The celebrations will include ship meetups with fireworks, shore-side community events, and special activities across the entire fleet.

“As America’s cruise line, we are bringing the fun from coast to coast so everyone can celebrate,” said Christine Duffy, Carnival’s president.
“There is no better way to honor this milestone than by bringing people together to salute our nation and create unforgettable moments at sea and ashore.”
Fireworks at Sea — On Both Coasts
East Coast: A Fleet Gathering at Celebration Key
On July 4, seven Carnival ships will sail together near Celebration Key. That’s Carnival’s exclusive destination in Grand Bahama. The ships will gather for a special fireworks show right on the water.
West Coast: San Diego’s Big Bay Boom
Three Carnival ships — the Radiance, Firenze, and Luminosa — will meet up in San Diego. Together, they’ll watch the Big Bay Boom, the West Coast’s largest fireworks show. Carnival is actually sponsoring this popular event.
Shore-Side Celebrations Carnival Is Sponsoring
The party isn’t just happening at sea. Carnival is also sponsoring two big land-based events:
- Virginia Sail250 Fireworks Show — June 20 in Norfolk, VA
- Miami-Dade 250 Independence Day Celebration — July 4 in Miami-Dade County, FL
What’s Happening Onboard
Decorations and Festive Fun
Expect your ship to look the part this summer. Select ships will feature giant 40-foot patriotic inflatables right on deck. Every ship in the fleet will be dressed up with 250th birthday banners and decorations.
Special Food and Drinks
Carnival is rolling out a fun menu of patriotic treats. Look for specialty cocktails, strawberry shortcake, and a limited-edition “America’s Cruisin'” beer. There will also be special America250 souvenir Coke cans to grab as keepsakes.
Honoring Military Families
Carnival is doing something really meaningful for military guests. One military family on each sailing during the week of July 4 will receive an American flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol. Every veteran and active-duty military member on those sailings will also get a special edition military pin.
Homeport Celebrations to Watch For
Carnival is hosting celebrations at several of its U.S. homeports. Here’s the schedule:
- Carnival Pride — Baltimore, June 28
- Carnival Radiance — Long Beach, June 30
Carnival Elation — Jacksonville, July 2 - Carnival Paradise — Tampa, July 2
A New Look for the Fleet
You may also notice something new on some Carnival ships this summer. The Carnival Legend and Carnival Magic recently received patriotic “From Sea to Shining Sea” bow crests. Carnival plans to add this new crest to all U.S.-based ships over time, except for the Carnival Jubilee and Carnival Tropicale.
It’s shaping up to be one heck of a Fourth of July at sea!
