Caribbean Princess Refurbishment to Begin End of March

Princess Cruises Caribbean Princess refurbishment will take place with an extensive dry dock in the Bahamas, beginning March 26. In a matter of two weeks the ship will be refurbished with all sorts of new features and enhancements.

What to expect

To a refurbishment tune of millions of dollars, the ship will be refitted from stem to stern and include family-friendly focus as well. There will be a new total of 87 connecting staterooms perfect for multigen family vacations.

Princess Cruises has collaborated with leading board-certified sleep expert Dr. Michael Breus and HGTV designer Candice Olson to create luxurious new beds that feature a scientifically engineered mattress and bed springs. Guests can sink into a plush two-inch pillow top mattress, European-inspired duvets and 100% luxurious Jacquard-woven linens.

The kids’ program will be revamped, too. Called Camp Discovery, kids 3-12 yrs will have their program which will be divided into two age groups (3-7 and 8-12 yrs). Teens 13-17 yrs will have their own lounge and activities, too.

Princess Cruises’ Movies Under the Stars will be mega-enhanced with a new screen that replaces the original 16 mm LEDs with 8 mm LEDs for twice the picture definition. A 160-degree Extreme Wide Angle Viewing screen will enable great viewing from every seat and lounge chair. They’re amping up the watts of their sound system to show the biggest blockbusters and concerts.

“With new amenities catering to families, Caribbean Princess not only provides comfort and technology to stay connected but enriching experiences that can be shared together as a family or in our new Camp Discovery Youth & Teen Center – all renovated with the goal of helping our guests create lifelong memories,” said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises.

The Caribbean Princess will be wired to accommodate Princess Cruises’ new Ocean Medallion technology with the actual feature available in summer 2018.

Several more yet unannounced renovations are in the works, too, and will extend into the dining venues along with all new soft goods.

Look for the Caribbean Princess refurbishment to finish in time for her April 6, 2017 transatlantic crossing to Europe.
