Dover Is Having Its Biggest Cruise Season Ever in 2026
The Port of Dover is gearing up for an exciting 2026 cruise season — and it’s shaping up to be one for the record books.
Dover’s 2026 Cruise Season: What You Need to Know
The season kicks off on April 1, 2026, when the Viking Vela makes its first call. This year is extra special because it marks 30 years of cruising at Dover. The port expects to welcome around 200,000 cruise guests throughout the season.

A Fifth Year of Growth
Dover is on a roll. The port anticipates its fifth straight year of growth in 2026. Cruises will explore some of Europe’s most stunning destinations, including the Norwegian Fjords, the Baltic Sea, the British Isles, and more of Northern Europe.
Peter Wright, head of cruise at the Port of Dover, summed it up well: “We are thrilled to launch another great season for Dover Cruise on our milestone 30th anniversary year and look forward to celebrating with our cruise lines and their guests through the many special events and multiple ship days that are taking place here.”
22 Cruise Lines Calling Dover Home
A total of 22 cruise lines will visit Dover in 2026. Regular visitors include Carnival Cruise Line, Saga Cruises, AIDA, and Seabourn. That’s a lot of ships coming and going!
Six Ships Making Their Dover Debut
Six ships will make their very first stop at Dover in 2026. These inaugural calls include:
– Sapphire Princess – TUI Mein Schiff 2 – Silversea Silver Spirit – Europa 2 – Scenic Eclipse – Viking Mira
Historic Four-Ship Day Coming in May
Here’s something that has never happened before at Dover. In May 2026, four cruise ships will be in port on the same day. The Celebrity Eclipse, Viking Sky, Ponant’s Le Bellot, and HX Expedition’s Fram will all arrive together.
Beyond that milestone, the season also includes 18 double cruise ship days and two triple cruise ship days. There will be plenty of action at the port all season long.
Special Events to Watch For
On July 2, Dover Castle will host the second English Heritage and Azamara Cruises AzAmazing event. This promises to be a memorable experience for guests sailing with Azamara.
Holland America Line Returns for a Full Season
Holland America Line is back at Dover in 2026, and they’re staying longer than ever. Their ship, the Nieuw Statendam, will operate a full season out of Dover. Karen Farndell, Holland America Line’s associate vice president of sales and marketing for the UK and Ireland, shared her excitement:
“After a hugely successful 2025, when we sailed across Europe from Dover for the first time in 10 years, Holland America will be back for an even longer season in 2026. Guests will set sail on a series of seven and 14-day voyages including to the Norwegian fjords, Iceland and Canary Islands from April to October.”
Farndell also confirmed that Holland America plans to return in 2027. The cruise line is confident in Dover as a homeport and has received very positive feedback from its guests.
Viking Ocean Ships Also Joining the Fun
Six of Viking’s ocean ships will also stop at Dover for transit calls during the season. That adds even more variety for cruise fans watching the action at this busy port.
Dover is clearly becoming one of Europe’s top cruise destinations. Whether you’re sailing out of Dover or just watching from the sidelines, 2026 is shaping up to be a landmark year.
