A Special Ceremony to Mark the Occasion

Ship officers and local authorities gathered onboard for a ceremony to commemorate the historic transit. They exchanged commemorative plaques as part of the celebration. It was a fitting way to honor such a significant first for the cruise line.

Virgin Voyages Joins a Growing Trend

The Panama Canal Authority noted that Virgin’s arrival shows how much the cruise industry is embracing the canal as a destination. Four other ships are also set to make their own first-ever transits during the 2025-26 season. That list includes the Disney Adventure, which already made headlines this year as the largest ship ever to sail through the canal.

The Brilliant Lady’s Repositioning Voyage

The Brilliant Lady entered service in late 2025. It kicked off a 16-night repositioning cruise from PortMiami on March 31, 2026. The sailing included stops in Panama and Colombia before the big canal crossing.

What’s On the Itinerary?

Before arriving in Los Angeles, the 110,000-ton ship visits several exciting ports. Travelers get to explore destinations in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Mexico along the way. It’s a packed itinerary that gives passengers a real taste of Central America.

West Coast Cruises and the Mexican Riviera

After arriving in Los Angeles, the Brilliant Lady will mark Virgin Voyages’ debut on the West Coast. From April through May, the 2,770-passenger ship will sail to California and the Mexican Riviera. Popular stops include Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, and Ensenada, plus Santa Barbara and San Diego.

Alaska Is Next

After its West Coast run, the Brilliant Lady heads north for Virgin Voyages’ very first Alaska season. Between May and September, the ship will offer 17 voyages to 12 destinations in Alaska and Canada. Highlights include ports like Ketchikan, Sitka, and Prince Rupert.

Returning to the Caribbean for Winter

Once the Alaska season wraps up, the Brilliant Lady heads back south. It will pass through the Panama Canal again in early November. From there, the ship will begin a winter season in the Caribbean.
