The Basics: Dates, Departure Ports, and Duration

The cruise sets sail on January 3, 2028. You can board from either Fort Lauderdale or Los Angeles. The roundtrip voyage covers roughly 36,000 nautical miles in total.

Not ready for the full 115 days? Princess also offers shorter segment options. You can book anywhere from 20 to 100 days. That flexibility makes this trip more accessible for many travelers.

Where in the World Will You Go?

The itinerary is packed with incredible stops from start to finish. Here’s a look at the major regions you’ll explore:

The Americas and Pacific Islands

The ship heads through the Panama Canal early in the voyage. From there, it’s on to Hawaii and the South Pacific, including Samoa and Fiji. These are the kinds of stops that make a world cruise feel truly special.

Australia and New Zealand

The Coral Princess then visits some of the Southern Hemisphere’s most beloved cities. Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland are all on the schedule. Each city gets extended time in port, so you won’t feel rushed.

The Indian Ocean and South Africa

After leaving the Pacific, the ship crosses the Indian Ocean. Stops include the beautiful islands of Mauritius and Réunion Island. The voyage then arrives in South Africa for an overnight stay in Cape Town.

A Brand-New Destination: Mossel Bay

One of the most exciting additions is a maiden call to Mossel Bay, South Africa. Princess describes it as “a charming coastal town known for its stunning beaches and rich history.” The town is home to coastal caves that contain some of the oldest evidence of modern human life, dating back more than 160,000 years. This is the first time Princess has ever called on this port.

Africa’s West Coast and the Mediterranean

The ship heads north along Africa’s western coastline before entering the Mediterranean. Barcelona, Sicily, Dubrovnik, and Casablanca are among the highlights. The voyage then crosses the Atlantic Ocean and returns to North America.

More Time in Port With “More Ashore”

Princess has expanded its “More Ashore” program for this sailing. That means more overnight and late-night stays throughout the trip. Here are some of the standout extended port times:

  • Overnight stays in Cape Town, South Africa and Auckland, New Zealand
  • Late-night stays in Barcelona, Casablanca, Dubrovnik, Honolulu, Melbourne, and Sydney — plus seven more ports
  • Safari experiences at African game reserves, including Aquila Game Reserve and Pumba Private Game Reserve, which is home to rare white lions

This is the first time Princess has offered safari excursions as part of a world cruise program.

What Princess Is Saying About This Voyage

Jim Berra, Princess Cruises’ chief commercial officer, shared his thoughts on the 2028 itinerary. “Our 2028 World Cruise is an unparalleled voyage designed for travelers to see the world in a meaningful, immersive way — with more overnight stays, more time in port, deeper cultural connections and unforgettable moments at every turn,” he said.

He also added that “guests will embark on an exceptional and deeply rewarding journey with extraordinary exploration, effortlessly wrapped in Princess’ signature warmth.”

The company says the cruise “offers guests the opportunity to experience the world while unpacking just once.” That’s a pretty compelling pitch for anyone tired of airport hopping.

Perks for Loyal Princess Cruisers

If you’re a Captain’s Circle member, there’s a special bonus waiting for you. You can earn up to $3,000 in onboard credit per stateroom. That’s a significant perk on a sailing of this length.

Connect With Fellow World Cruisers

Princess has set up an official World Cruise 2028 Facebook Group for travelers who book this sailing. It’s a great place to connect with others heading on the same adventure. You can swap tips, ask questions, and start building friendships before the ship even leaves port.
