Royal Caribbeans Voyager Changes Itinerary Due to Hurricane Simon

Royal Caribbean changed the itinerary of the Voyager of the Seas' current cruise due to the impact of Hurricane Simon.

Offering an eight-night cruise to the Mexican Riviera and California, the 1999-built ship sailed from Los Angeles on October 8, 2026.

According to a statement sent to guests onboard, planned visits to Catalina Island, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán had to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

Royal Caribbean initially adjusted the cruise itinerary last week, removing calls to Catalina Island and Mazatlán. The visit to Cabo San Lucas was also changed, taking place on a different day than initially scheduled.

The company later cancelled the visit to Puerto Vallarta, adding a second stop to Cabo San Lucas to the itinerary.

"Together with our meteorologist team, we've continued to closely monitor the path of Hurricane Simon," Royal Caribbean stated in its latest update.

"Unfortunately, the forecast has deteriorated, and we're unable to safely call on Puerto Vallarta. To ensure the comfort and safety of our guests and crew, and after exploring all options, we'll now head back to Cabo San Lucas," the company continued.

The additional visit to Cabo San Lucas was scheduled for Tuesday, with the Voyager of the Seas then spending two days at sea before arriving in Los Angeles as scheduled on October 16, 2026.

"We are thankful for your continued understanding and flexibility regarding the sudden changes due to the weather," Royal Caribbean said.

"We know this is not the cruise you were expecting, but to thank you for your continued loyalty and to help make up for the inconvenience, we're pleased to offer an additional onboard credit," the company added.

According to the statement, passengers will receive non-refundable onboard credits of up to $250 per person due to the most recent change, depending on their stateroom category.

Royal Caribbean is also offering 20 percent discounted pricing for shore excursions in Cabo San Lucas, the letter added.

Any shore excursions booked through the company for the cancelled ports of call will be fully refunded as onboard credit.

Having recently completed a summer season in Alaska, the Voyager of the Seas is offering cruises to the Mexican Riviera and the West Coast from Los Angeles along with the Ovation of the Seas.
