Holland America Unveils Celestial Star-Gazing Cruises for 2026

Holland America Line has announced an exciting new series of cruises set for 2026, offering guests a unique opportunity to experience celestial events, as per their recent statement.
Starting July 31, travelers can book these special Celestial Cruises to witness amazing sights, including the Northern Lights, a total solar eclipse, and the summer solstice above the Arctic Circle.
“After the excitement and success of our 2024 eclipse cruises, we knew our guests would be eager for more opportunities to witness some of the world’s most extraordinary natural phenomena,” said Beth Bodensteiner, chief commercial officer for Holland America Line. “Our team has curated a series of cruises that not only meet this demand but also offer in-depth exploration of captivating destinations and the premium onboard experience we’re renowned for.”
Guests booking solar eclipse cruises can look forward to educational lectures from scientific experts, themed activities, and more. Essential equipment like eclipse glasses will be provided. For Northern Lights cruises, guests have the option to receive a wake-up call whenever the aurora borealis is visible.
Three Holland America ships will be strategically positioned for the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026. The Oosterdam will offer views off Spain’s eastern coast, the Nieuw Statendam will sail off Iceland’s western coast, and the Zuiderdam will include the eclipse in its Voyage of the Vikings.
To witness the Northern Lights, guests can choose between two voyages aboard the Rotterdam and the Nieuw Statendam. These cruises will feature an overnight stay in Alta, also known as “The City of the Northern Lights,” and spend five days above the Arctic Circle.
Additionally, travelers can celebrate the summer solstice aboard the Nieuw Statendam, which will take guests above the Arctic Circle to Honningsvåg, Norway for the longest day of the year.
For a limited time, guests who book the 2026 Celestial Cruises with the Have It All premium package will receive standard package amenities, including shore excursions, specialty dining, a Signature Beverage Package, and Surf Wi-Fi. They will also enjoy complimentary prepaid crew appreciation, free upgrades to the Elite Beverage Package, and Premium Wi-Fi.
