First Indian Restaurant Coming to Virgin Voyages Valiant Lady
India has arrived on the high seas — and it’s making quite an entrance. Virgin Voyages is bringing Indian cuisine to its fleet with a brand-new restaurant that sounds like a must-try for foodies.
Virgin Voyages Opens Indian Restaurant Ariya on Valiant Lady
Virgin Voyages is rolling out what it calls its boldest dining move yet. The cruise line is opening an Indian restaurant called Ariya aboard the Valiant Lady. The restaurant will debut in May, right after the ship comes out of drydock.

Nirmal Saverimuttu, CEO of Virgin Voyages, shared his excitement about the new concept:
“Ariya is the next chapter in our food and beverage collection that we’ve been building with real intention since day one. Every restaurant we open is a statement about what we believe dining at sea can be, and Ariya says something we haven’t said before.”
He added: “Indian cuisine, done with this level of craft and this much heart, belongs on Valiant Lady. Sailors who’ve sailed with us before will understand immediately why this belongs here. For those who haven’t, Ariya might be the reason they book.”
The Story Behind the Name
Ariya is named after Sir Richard Branson’s great-great-grandmother. She was a traveler who believed food could connect people across cultures more easily than words ever could. That idea shapes everything about this restaurant. Virgin Voyages designed Ariya around the belief that a shared meal can bring distant worlds closer together.
A Beautiful Space Inspired by India
The restaurant’s design pulls from India’s vibrant spice markets. The centerpiece is a semi-private dining area surrounded by decorative screens. The screens are designed to look like the inside of a traditional jewelry box. It sounds like the kind of place where the atmosphere is just as memorable as the food.
Who’s Behind the Menu?
Ariya was created in partnership with Indie Culinaire. Celebrity chef, TV personality, and cookbook author Maneet Chauhan led the culinary development. Chef Chauhan is well known for bringing bold Indian flavors to American audiences.
Chef Levi Mezick, Virgin Voyages’ senior director of culinary program development, explained the vision:
“Indian cuisine is finally getting the global recognition it has always deserved and our Sailors get to experience it at its best, with Chef Maneet. The spice combinations alone will surprise people. That’s the goal: to make every Sailor at that table think, ‘I didn’t know food could do that.'”
What’s on the Menu?
The menu features dishes from many different regions across India. Here are some of the standout options you can expect:

- Goan Curried Mussels
- Malabar Coconut Crab Cake
- Puffed Rice and Avocado Chaat
- Tandoori Pistachio-Crusted Snapper

The bar at Ariya is just as thoughtfully designed as the kitchen. The drink menu draws from the same cultural inspiration as the food. A few cocktails that stand out include:
