Celebrity Cruises announced Celebrity Millennium will resume cruising this June. But there’s one caveat. All adults must have completed their vaccination. Celebrity’s first cruise since last year is scheduled to depart on June 5, 2021. And it’s not from Florida; it’s from St. Maarten.
Celebrity Cruises from St. Maarten – Vaccinations Required
On June 5, 2021, recently refurbished to the tune of $500 million, Celebrity Millennium will depart from St. Maarten for round-trip seven-night Caribbean cruises. While cruises from Florida have not resumed yet, Celebrity’s plan to offer cruises from St. Maarten will be a relief to the Caribbean ports the ship will visit.
In addition, Celebrity’s new summer Caribbean cruises will provide guests with a much-needed break, especially for cruise-lovers who haven’t been on a cruise in over a year. There is one major caveat and huge difference between these new cruises from St. Maarten and “normal” cruises.
In order to board the ship, all adults, 18 years and older, will need to have been vaccinated. Children under the age of 18 will need to show proof of a negative test result taken within 72 hours of embarkation.
“Returning to the Caribbean after more than a year away is such a significant moment for us. It marks the measured beginning of the end of what has been a uniquely challenging time for everyone,” Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo said. She continued, “We have been in constant contact with the leadership of St. Maarten these past months to support each other and share learnings and best practices. I am forever grateful for the support and collaboration of the St. Maarten Government.”
In addition, all passengers must meet St. Maarten’s travel requirements, which includes presenting a negative PCR test taken within 72-hours of arrival in St. Maarten.
Where Celebrity Millennium Cruises Will Go
Celebrity Millennium offers two different sailing itineraries for their new St. Maarten cruises. In the course of a week, Celebrity Millennium will head to either the Southern Caribbean or Eastern Caribbean. Itineraries include:
- Aruba, Curaçao and Barbados – These three diverse islands offer amazing natural rock formations, Dutch Colonial history and plenty of opportunity to snorkel and sail. In Barbados, a tram ride through Harrison Caves is a great way to cool off from the summer heat.
- Tortola, St. Lucia and Barbados – This itinerary adds in the beauty of St. Lucia, its beaches and twin volcanic spires. A day in sunny Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands, offers expansive beaches, British-style pubs and good shopping, especially if you collect spices.
With cruise vacations beginning and ending in St. Maarten, guests have plenty of time to experience this island’s mix of Dutch, French and Caribbean foods plus stunning beaches and excellent snorkeling and diving options.
Celebrity Shore Excursions
Celebrity will offer a variety of shore excursion at every port. A new Celebrity feature, “Private Journeys and Small Group Discovery Tours” will also be available if guests would rather explore the destinations with only members of their family or traveling companions.
The cruise line has special air and sea pricing for all Summer 2021 cruises from St. Maarten. Rates start at $1,999* per person for a veranda stateroom. The offer applies to new bookings and flights must be booked through Flights By Celebrity; prices include airfare and taxes.
Celebrity Millennium Refurbishment Details
The recent multi-million dollar refurbishment included upgrades throughout the ship. New staterooms, refreshed restaurants and lounges; and a redesigned spa are just some of the improvements. At the exclusive The Retreat, there’s private sundeck and redesigned lounge with complimentary beverages, gourmet bites, live entertainment, plus 24-hour butler and concierge service.
Celebrity also installed advanced RFID lock technology providing digital key access to every stateroom door. Wi-Fi, drinks and gratuities are now included on every Celebrity cruise.
Reservations for Celebrity Millennium cruises from St. Maarten go on sale on March 25.
