Carnival Cruise Line dealt with computer problems on Sunday, February 8, 2026 that messed up sailings across their fleet. Several ships couldn’t leave port on time because the tech issues slowed down getting passengers off and on the vessels.
The cruise line posted an update on their website to explain what happened. The problems started during planned computer maintenance that didn’t go as expected.
What Carnival Said About the Tech Problems
“Carnival is experiencing some IT issues that occurred during planned maintenance, resulting in the delay of debarkation and embarkation of guests, as well as slowing down some other technology tools,” Carnival explained.
The company stressed that important safety systems were still working fine. “Navigation and safety systems are working. We appreciate our guests’ patience and encourage embarking guests to watch their emails, text and phone call messages for updates,” the company added.
Which Ships Were Affected?
Ship tracking data showed several vessels faced major delays getting out of port. The Carnival Celebration had one of the longest waits at PortMiami.
The ship was supposed to leave at 3:30 PM. Instead, it didn’t start its seven-night Caribbean cruise until after 1:00 AM the next morning.
That cruise was headed to Grand Turk, Amber Cove, Nassau, and Carnival’s private island Celebration Key. Nobody knows yet if the late departure will change the stops on this cruise.
Other ships also left way behind schedule. The Carnival Venezia, Carnival Spirit, and Carnival Pride all started their cruises after midnight too.
Problems Extended to Onboard Systems
Passengers reported that the tech problems weren’t just happening at the ports. The company’s HUB app wasn’t working right for many guests either.
This isn’t the first time Carnival has dealt with computer troubles. Back in December, the Carnival Firenze couldn’t leave Long Beach for more than 21 hours because of IT issues.
Weather Delays Hit Another Ship
In separate news, the Carnival Sunshine had to push back its arrival in Norfolk because of bad weather. Strong storms in the North Atlantic forced the change.
The ship was supposed to dock at the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Instead, it arrived on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
