Holland America Drops Mexican Port Stop from Koningsdam Itinerary
Holland America Line just made a change to one of its upcoming Mexican Riviera sailings. Here’s what you need to know.
Loreto Stop Dropped from Koningsdam’s November 2026 Sailing
Holland America Line is cutting a port stop from the Koningsdam’s November 28, 2026, departure from San Diego. The cruise line notified booked guests about the change. A government restriction on cruise ships is the reason behind the decision.

The removed stop is Loreto, a Mexican port town originally scheduled for December 2, 2026. This visit was part of a ten-night Mexican Riviera itinerary.
How the Itinerary Is Changing
With Loreto off the schedule, the Koningsdam will now spend an overnight in Puerto Vallarta instead. The ship will arrive there one day earlier than originally planned. It will still depart Puerto Vallarta on December 5, 2026, as scheduled.
The stop at Mazatlán is also shifting. That port call will now happen on December 3, 2026, one day earlier than before.
What the Rest of the Itinerary Looks Like
The sailing still includes several exciting Mexican destinations. Guests will visit La Paz and Cabo San Lucas before heading back to San Diego. Overall, it’s still a solid Mexican Riviera cruise despite the change.
About the Koningsdam’s 2026-27 Winter Season
The Koningsdam is currently sailing Alaska cruises out of Vancouver during the summer. In October, the ship will reposition to San Diego to kick off its winter season.
The 2,660-passenger ship will offer a wide range of cruises. Options run from seven to 18 nights and include destinations like Puerto Vallarta, Catalina Island, and Honolulu.
Highlights of the Winter Deployment
One fun option is a seven-night California coastal cruise. It features stops in San Francisco, Ensenada, and Catalina Island. It’s a great choice for travelers who want a shorter getaway closer to home.
For those dreaming of something bigger, the Koningsdam will also offer a 35-night South Pacific and French Polynesia voyage in early 2027. This sailing is part of Holland America’s Legendary Voyages program. It departs roundtrip from San Diego and visits ten destinations across Hawaii, Kiribati, and French Polynesia — including Tahiti and Nuku Hiva.
