Celebrity Cancels 2027 Cruise Aboard Equinox: Key Details for Cruise Travelers

Celebrity Cruises just delivered some disappointing news for travelers booked on a specific 2027 sailing. Here’s what you need to know if you’re affected.

Celebrity Equinox August 2027 Sailing Canceled

Celebrity Cruises has canceled the August 12, 2027, departure aboard the Celebrity Equinox. A full-ship charter is the reason for the cancellation. The cruise line sent a statement directly to booked guests explaining the situation.

“We understand that this is not an ideal situation, and we truly apologize for the impact this has on your vacation plans,” Celebrity said in the statement.

What Was This Cruise?

This was a nine-night sailing through Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. The ship would have sailed roundtrip from Barcelona. Highlights included stops in Porto, Tangier, and Cádiz, plus an overnight stay in Lisbon.

What Are Your Options?

Celebrity isn’t leaving passengers without choices. “The time and effort you took to plan your cruise is important to us, so we’ve put together some alternative options that we hope will work for you and those in your party,” the company said.

Similar Sailings You Can Switch To

You can move your booking to another nine-night Equinox cruise in June or September 2027. There’s also a nine-night Italian Riviera, Spain, and France itinerary available in early August 2027. These options keep the same ship and trip length.

Fare Protection for Rebookers

Celebrity will protect your original stateroom category price. If the new sailing costs less, they’ll lower your fare to match. For fully paid bookings with a price drop, Celebrity will refund the difference.

Onboard Credits as a Goodwill Gesture

Celebrity is offering non-refundable onboard credits to guests who rebook. Aqua Class and lower stateroom guests will get $200 per stateroom. Suite guests will receive $400 per stateroom.

What If You Rebook a Different Sailing?

You can rebook any other Celebrity sailing and still receive the same onboard credit. Celebrity is also waiving non-refundable deposit change fees. You’ll only need to pay any difference in cruise fares.

Prefer a Full Refund Instead?

If none of the alternatives work for you, you can cancel completely. Celebrity will refund your full cruise fare. Any additional services you’ve paid for will also be refunded.
