Holland America's Oosterdam Reveals Stunning Transformation With a Bold New Deployment That Has Cruisers Buzzing

Holland Americas Oosterdam Emerges Transformed: The New Deployment That Has Cruisers Excited

Holland America Line just opened bookings for the newly refurbished Oosterdam — and cruise fans will want to pay attention.

Holland America’s Biggest Fleet Investment Ever

Holland America Line is making history. The cruise line has launched its “Evolution” program, which it calls the largest fleet investment in its 153-year history. The Oosterdam will be the first ship to go through this major makeover.

After its time in drydock, the Oosterdam will sail eight different itineraries across 15 departure dates. Destinations include Europe, the Caribbean, and North America, with sailings starting in late 2027.

What’s New Onboard the Oosterdam?

The goal of the Evolution program is to bring features from Holland America’s newer Pinnacle Class ships to older vessels in the fleet. Think upgraded staterooms, new suite categories, and expanded access to popular onboard spots.

New Rooms and Suites

Solo travelers will love the new Solo Verandah staterooms. Each one comes with a private balcony and a dedicated workspace — a rare find on cruise ships.

Guests looking for something more luxurious have new options too. The newly added Bridgeview Suites offer panoramic windows and generous living space. Vista Suites will also debut on the Oosterdam for the very first time.

The Grand Dutch Café

One of the most talked-about new additions is the Grand Dutch Café. It’s a European-style coffee shop that draws inspiration from Holland America’s Dutch roots. This cozy spot first appeared on Pinnacle Class ships and is now coming to the Oosterdam.

Michael Stendebach, Senior Vice President of Food, Beverage and Rooms for Holland America Line, is clearly excited about the changes. “We can’t wait to welcome guests aboard the elevated Oosterdam through these new voyages, where they’ll be among the first to experience what this transformation brings,” he said. “From the first step on board, guests will feel a more refined and thoughtfully designed experience, with new spaces like the Grand Dutch Café providing a sense of comfort and welcome as their vacation begins.”

Where Will the Oosterdam Sail?

The Oosterdam’s post-refit schedule is packed with exciting destinations.

Europe and the Trans-Atlantic Crossing

The ship returns to service in early December 2027 with a seven-night Western Mediterranean cruise. That itinerary visits ports in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. It’s followed by a 13-night trans-Atlantic crossing back to Fort Lauderdale.

Caribbean Season

From Port Everglades, the Oosterdam will spend the 2027-28 season sailing the Caribbean. Guests can choose from 11- and 12-night itineraries focused on the Southern Caribbean and the ABC Islands — Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao.

Panama Canal and the Pacific Coast

In spring 2028, the Oosterdam heads through the Panama Canal. The repositioning voyage travels north along the Pacific Coast, stopping at ports in Central America and Mexico. The journey wraps up in the Pacific Northwest.

Holland America says these sailings “give guests the earliest opportunity to experience Oosterdam’s onboard enhancements, paired with destination-rich itineraries.” If you’ve been thinking about trying Holland America, this could be a great time to go.
