Seabourn Enters Growing Expedition Cruising Market

Seabourn has signed a letter of intent with a shipbuilder in Italy to build the luxury cruise line’s first two expedition cruise ships. The two 264-passenger polar-rated vessels will be delivered in June 2021 and May 2022.

Keeping with the cruise line’s penchant for luxury, these new Seabourn expedition ships will have all suite accommodations. Each ship will also have its own submarine plus kayaks and of course Zodiacs for shore landings.

“This is a groundbreaking moment for Seabourn and for luxury travelers, who will now find a new standard of authentic yet luxurious expedition adventures in new and amazing destinations few people will ever see,” Seabourn president Richard Meadows said in a statement.

Itineraries were revealed and will have the first, yet-unnamed expedition ship visiting the Arctic in North America’s summer and then head to the Antarctic as winter approaches. It’s summertime there, of course.

Seabourn currently has five ultra-luxury yacht-like ships cruising to every corner of the world.
