Why Carnival Is Pulling Tracy Arm Fjord From Its Alaska Itineraries

Carnival Cruise Line is making a small but notable change to its Alaska cruise plans for 2026. Here’s what you need to know if you’re booked on one of the affected ships.

Carnival Swaps Tracy Arm Fjord for Endicott Arm

Carnival Cruise Line has decided to remove Tracy Arm Fjord from its Alaska itineraries for the 2026 summer season. The change affects three ships: the Carnival Miracle, the Carnival Luminosa, and the Carnival Spirit.

The reason? Safety and navigation concerns. “We have been closely monitoring geological conditions in Tracy Arm Fjord,” the company said. “The waterway is currently not suitable for cruise ship navigation.”

A Simple Switch — Just a Different Turn

So where will the ships go instead? Carnival has a plan. “We have made a minor adjustment to our itinerary and will be cruising Endicott Arm Fjord instead,” the company explained.

Carnival described the change as the ships “essentially turning right instead of left upon entering the fjords.” In other words, it’s a small geographic shift, not a major overhaul of the cruise experience.

The good news is that Endicott Arm offers “equally breathtaking scenery,” according to Carnival. The company says it’s confident guests will love it just as much.

Which Sailings Are Affected?

This change covers a wide range of departures across all three ships. Here’s a quick breakdown:

Carnival Spirit

All sailings from April 28 to September 15, 2026 are affected. The Spirit departs from Seattle on seven-night cruises to Alaska and Canada.

Carnival Miracle

All sailings from April 27 to September 17, 2026 are impacted. Like the Spirit, the Miracle also sails from Seattle on seven-night Alaska and Canada itineraries.

Carnival Luminosa

Specific departure dates are affected, including April 27, May 11, May 25, June 8, June 22, July 6, July 20, August 3, August 17, August 31, and September 10, 2026. The Luminosa sails from San Francisco on 11-night Alaska cruises — a first for the ship in that homeport.

What Else Is on These Itineraries?

Even with the fjord swap, these Alaska cruises still pack in plenty of great destinations. The Spirit and Miracle itineraries include stops in Skagway, Ketchikan, Juneau, and Victoria, in addition to Endicott Arm Fjord.

The Luminosa’s longer 11-night sailings feature visits to Prince Rupert, Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway. That’s still a solid lineup of iconic Alaska ports.

What Happens to Pre-Booked Shore Excursions?

If you’ve already booked shore excursions for Tracy Arm Fjord, don’t stress. Carnival says those bookings will be automatically updated to reflect the new itinerary. You shouldn’t need to do anything on your end.
