Singapore Becomes Home Port for Three Princess Cruise Ships
Princess Cruises is making a big move in Asia — and it’s great news for U.S. cruisers who want to explore Southeast Asia in style.
Princess Cruises and Singapore Team Up for Three Years
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Princess Cruises have announced a major new partnership. The deal runs from 2027 to 2030 and is expected to bring more than 150,000 passengers through Singapore.

This isn’t just a small expansion. Princess Cruises plans to double the number of sailings out of Singapore by 2030.
What This Means for Cruisers
Three Princess Cruises ships will call Singapore home: the Diamond Princess, Sapphire Princess, and Grand Princess. These ships will offer longer itineraries, ranging from 10 to 28 days. That means more time exploring ports across Southeast Asia and beyond.
Jean Ng of the Singapore Tourism Board summed it up well: “This three-year partnership with Princess Cruises is a testament to Singapore’s position as Asia’s premier cruise hub.”
She also noted that the partnership supports Singapore’s bigger tourism goals. “With Asia Pacific emerging as a key growth region for cruising, Singapore is well-positioned to capture fly-cruise demand and connect the world to the best of Asia,” Ng added.
Singapore as a Homeport: What to Expect
Starting in November 2026, both the Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess will homeport in Singapore at the same time. This dual deployment runs through February 2027.
Then, for the 2027-28 season, the Diamond Princess takes the lead. It will offer longer, destination-focused sailings connecting Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.
Matthew Rutherford, Princess Cruises’ Vice President for Asia Pacific, is clearly excited about the opportunity. “Singapore is a cornerstone of our Asia Pacific strategy and an exceptional homeport from which to expand our regional footprint,” he said.
He also pointed to growing interest in deeper travel experiences. “We’re seeing growing demand for longer, more immersive journeys, and this program allows us to deliver richer itineraries across Southeast Asia and beyond while attracting more international guests to the region,” Rutherford added.
Why U.S. Travelers Should Pay Attention
Singapore is one of the best gateway cities in the world. It’s easy to navigate, safe, and packed with incredible food and culture. Flying into Singapore and boarding a cruise ship is a smooth experience.
Princess Cruises specifically expects to draw travelers from the U.S., Australia, and the United Kingdom. These longer itineraries are perfect for American cruisers who want to make the most of a long-haul trip to Asia. If you’re going to fly that far, spending 10 to 28 days at sea exploring the region just makes sense.
