Royal Caribbeans Hero of the Seas to Enter Service Early

The Hero of the Seas will enter service for Royal Caribbean earlier than scheduled, according to an update shared by the company.

Currently being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the Icon-class vessel was initially set to debut on August 11, 2027.

Royal Caribbean said that construction is progressing ahead of schedule, allowing for the addition of two new sailings.

The Hero of the Seas will now welcome its first guests on August 1, 2027, kicking off a seven-night cruise from Fort Lauderdale.

While additional details of the itinerary will be revealed at a later date, the new sailing will visit the Western Caribbean and Perfect Day CocoCay.

The ship will also offer a new three-night cruise to Perfect Day CocoCay and the Bahamas departing from Port Everglades on August 8, 2027.

Royal Caribbean said that the new cruises will be available for bookings starting on October 7, 2026, at 8:00 AM ET.

Guests currently booked on the ship's August 11, 2027, sailing will be contacted by the company with options that include switching to one of the new departures.

The company noted that it will also offer flexibility to switch to one of the new sailings or remain on their existing booking.

As the fourth ship in Royal Caribbean's Icon-class series, the Hero of the Seas will offer weeklong cruises to the Caribbean departing from PortMiami.

Replacing the Icon of the Seas in South Florida, the 5,610-passenger ship will operate year-round itineraries to destinations in Mexico, the Bahamas, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Honduras and more.

In related news, Royal Caribbean recently announced that the vessel's entertainment lineup will be highlighted by "The SpongeBob Musical," which will reimagine the Nickelodeon animated series at the Royal Theater.
