Royal Caribbean just announced exciting news for cruise lovers. The cruise line is opening a brand-new beach club in Santorini, Greece. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises guests will get exclusive access starting summer 2026.
A New Way to Experience Santorini
Royal Caribbean Group owns both cruise lines plus Silversea Cruises. The company revealed plans for Royal Beach Club Santorini as part of their growing collection of land destinations. This marks a big step in their goal to expand from two to eight vacation destinations by 2028.
“Expanding our Royal Beach Club Collection to include Santorini — one of the world’s most popular and beautiful locations — is a bold step forward in growing our vacation portfolio from two to eight by 2028, giving guests more ways to have unforgettable experiences with us,” said Jason Liberty, the company’s president and CEO.
The new beach club will renovate an existing facility. Royal Caribbean plans to add upgraded amenities that blend with the natural landscape. The company will use sustainable materials in the design.
Fighting Overtourism with Smart Planning
Santorini faces major overtourism problems, like many European destinations. Royal Caribbean designed their new experience to help reduce crowding. The “Ultimate Santorini Day” lets guests start their visit in three different locations.
Visitors can begin in Oia village, Fira capital city, or directly at the beach club. This smart approach spreads crowds away from the busy northern areas. It also brings new business opportunities to southern Santorini.
“This approach will help to distribute crowds away from popular destinations in the north,” Royal Caribbean Group’s website explains. “This strategic placement will also bring new economic opportunities to the south, with guests being rotated between the beach club and other well-known locations.”
Greece already started charging cruise visitors extra taxes in Santorini and Mykonos this year. The new tax helps address overtourism concerns.
Growing Beach Club Collection
Royal Beach Club Santorini joins Royal Caribbean’s expanding portfolio of exclusive destinations. The company’s first beach club opens this December in the Bahamas. Royal Beach Club Paradise Island will give guests a taste of what’s coming to Greece.
Royal Caribbean has big plans for more beach clubs. Royal Beach Club Cozumel opens in 2026, the same year as Santorini. Royal Beach Club South Pacific in Lelepa follows in 2028.
The company also plans Perfect Day Mexico for 2027. This builds on the huge success of Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.
What This Means for Cruise Travelers
The new Santorini beach club gives Royal Caribbean and Celebrity guests exclusive access to one of Greece’s most beautiful islands. Instead of fighting crowds at public beaches, cruise passengers get their own private space.
The beach club will include shops, cafes, and other amenities. Royal Caribbean promises more details about the “Ultimate Santorini Day” experience soon.
This expansion shows how cruise lines are investing in better port experiences. Private destinations let cruise companies control the guest experience from ship to shore.
For travelers planning future Greek cruises, the Santorini beach club adds serious value. You’ll get exclusive access to pristine beaches without the typical tourist crowds. Plus, the sustainable design approach shows Royal Caribbean cares about protecting these beautiful destinations for future visitors.
The summer 2026 opening gives cruise lovers something exciting to plan for. Keep watching for more details about bookings and specific amenities as the opening date approaches.
