The Mariner of the Seas is a Voyager-class ship built in 2004. It holds up to 3,348 passengers. Before heading to Europe, it will wrap up a winter season sailing from New Orleans.
How Does the Ship Get to Europe?
The ship makes a repositioning voyage from the U.S. to Europe in late April 2027. This transatlantic crossing sets the stage for the full European season that follows.
Starting in early May, the ship begins a series of cruises. Sailings range from seven to 10 nights.
Where Does the Mariner of the Seas Sail in 2027?
Portugal, Morocco, and Spain
Departing from Lisbon and Barcelona, the ship offers nine-night cruises to some truly exciting destinations. Ports of call include Tangier, Casablanca, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, and Porto.

The Mariner also sails from Civitavecchia (near Rome) and Ravenna in northern Italy. These cruises head to the Eastern Mediterranean, the Adriatic Sea, and the Aegean Sea.

One of the most exciting sailings of the season is a seven-night solar eclipse cruise. It departs from Barcelona in late July 2027.
Guests on this sailing will watch a total solar eclipse from the deck of the ship. The itinerary visits Casablanca, Tangier, Gibraltar, Cartagena, and Palma de Mallorca. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for eclipse chasers and cruise lovers alike.

Why Was the Mariner of the Seas Redeployed?
The ship was originally scheduled to sail from Southampton, England, in summer 2027. Royal Caribbean later changed those plans. The Freedom of the Seas took over the Southampton itineraries instead, covering routes to Scandinavia, the North Sea, and Western Europe.
The Freedom of the Seas is a larger ship. It was previously set to sail from Miami before the swap was made.
