Norwegian Cruise Line Is Returning to Philadelphia
Norwegian Cruise Line is back in Philadelphia after a 15-year break — and it’s big news for Mid-Atlantic cruisers!
NCL Returns to Philadelphia
For the first time in over 15 years, a cruise line is sailing out of Philadelphia. Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has officially brought its ships back to the City of Brotherly Love. The Norwegian Jewel kicked things off this spring, with more sailings to follow.

NCL President Marc Kazlauskas called it a major moment for the region. “For the first time in over 15 years, travelers in the Mid-Atlantic area will once again be able to sail from their own backyard with us,” he said. “We’re proud to bring our signature freedom and flexibility back to this incredible city.”
A Big Celebration at the Port
NCL marked the occasion with a ceremony aboard the Norwegian Jewel on April 16. Big names showed up for the event. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, and other local officials were all on hand.
PhilaPort CEO Jeff Theobald summed up what this means for the city. “The arrival of Norwegian Cruise Line and Norwegian Jewel signals the beginning of a new chapter for our port, our city, and the entire region,” he said. He added that the new cruise service will bring real economic benefits to Pennsylvania.
Where Can You Go From Philadelphia?
Here’s the exciting part — the sailing options are solid. The Norwegian Jewel will offer 7-to-9-night cruises to Bermuda during the summer. Then, from September 5 through October 7, 2026, she’ll shift to 10- and 11-night Canada and New England itineraries.
Those fall sailings give you a flexible choice of departure port. You can board in Philadelphia or Quebec City. That’s a great perk for travelers in the northeast.
Norwegian Pearl Takes Over in Late 2026
After the Norwegian Jewel wraps up her season, the Norwegian Pearl steps in. She’ll sail from Philadelphia starting in late 2026. Her routes will include Bermuda, Canada, New England, the Caribbean, and the Bahamas — all the way through April 2028.
A New Cruise Terminal Is Coming
NCL and PhilaPort are building a brand-new cruise terminal together. It was originally supposed to open for the first sailing this season. The opening got pushed back, but NCL says the terminal will still open during the current cruise season.
This is great news for Philadelphia-area cruisers. Skipping the drive to New York or Baltimore is a real bonus. Keep an eye on this homeport — it looks like it’s just getting started.
