The show was created by Lionsgate and GEA Live. It runs about 90 minutes and takes place in the ship’s onboard theater. A live band and dancers perform in sync with the beloved movie, bringing the whole film to life right before your eyes.
What to Expect From the Show
Think of it as watching the movie, but with a live concert happening at the same time. The band plays every iconic song while dancers perform alongside the film. It’s a totally unique experience that blends nostalgia with live entertainment.
Guests can catch matinee showings on sea days or attend select evening performances. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to see it during the seven-night sailings. Beyond the show itself, there will also be themed parties and expert talks on board.
Already a Hit on Other MSC Ships
This isn’t a brand-new concept for MSC Cruises. The show first debuted on the MSC World America and is also available on the MSC Virtuosa. The response from passengers has been overwhelmingly positive.
Steve Leatham, Vice President of Entertainment at MSC Cruises, shared his excitement about the expansion: “We are thrilled to have Dirty Dancing: In Concert on board MSC Poesia for MSC Cruises’ first ever sailings to Alaska this summer season.”
He added, “Following the incredible response we have seen since the launch on MSC World America and MSC Virtuosa, we’re excited to be able to offer it on more of our ships for our guests to enjoy this truly one-of-a-kind experience at sea.”
MSC Poesia Is Getting a Major Makeover
The ship isn’t just adding great entertainment — it’s getting a full refresh too. MSC Poesia is heading into dry dock soon for a complete refurbishment. The upgrades will be ready before the Alaska sailings begin.
Here’s what’s being added to the ship:
- The upscale MSC Yacht Club — the cruise line’s ship-within-a-ship luxury experience
- Butcher’s Cut — a specialty steakhouse
- Kaito Sushi Bar — a Japanese specialty dining option
These additions make MSC Poesia feel like a brand-new ship. Travelers who have sailed on her before will notice a big difference.
Where Does MSC Poesia Sail in Alaska?
The Alaska itineraries are seven nights long and depart from Seattle. That’s great news for West Coast travelers who don’t want to fly far to start their cruise vacation.
The sailings visit some stunning Alaskan destinations, including:
- Ketchikan — known for its totem poles and rich Native culture
- Icy Strait Hoonah — a top spot for wildlife watching and zip-lining
- Tracy Arm — home to breathtaking glaciers
- Juneau — Alaska’s capital city with incredible scenery
- Victoria, Canada — a charming port with beautiful gardens
It’s a well-rounded itinerary that covers some of Alaska’s most popular highlights. Combine that with a freshly renovated ship and a one-of-a-kind live concert, and this sailing looks hard to beat.
