The MSC Meraviglia has set sail on its final voyage from New York City — at least for now. Here’s what’s happening and what comes next for this popular ship.
MSC Meraviglia Says Goodbye to Brooklyn
The MSC Meraviglia recently departed from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal on a farewell cruise. The ship has been sailing year-round from this port since April 2023.

This final New York sailing is a seven-night trip to the Bahamas and Florida. The itinerary includes stops at Nassau, Port Canaveral, and MSC’s private island, Ocean Cay.
The ship returns to New York on April 19, 2026. After that, it heads to Europe — and MSC’s time at the Brooklyn terminal comes to an end.
A Look Back at MSC in New York
MSC Meraviglia arrived at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal back in April 2023. Since then, it carried thousands of passengers to some great destinations.
The 4,500-passenger ship offered week-long cruises to the Bahamas and Florida. It also sailed to the Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada, and New England.
What’s Next for MSC Meraviglia?
The Transatlantic Crossing
After leaving New York, the ship heads to Barcelona, Spain on a 19-night transatlantic voyage. The route includes stops in Canada and across the Atlantic Ocean.
Highlights along the way include Ponta Delgada in the Azores, Cadiz in Spain, and Marseille in France. It’s a bucket-list trip for ocean crossing fans.
Summer in the Mediterranean
Starting in early May, the MSC Meraviglia shifts to seven-night cruises in the Western Mediterranean. The 2017-built ship will visit Spain, France, Italy, and Tunisia.
This is a great season for travelers who love European culture and history. The Mediterranean itineraries are well-suited for first-time Europe visitors.
Miami Becomes the New Home Port
MSC originally planned to bring the Meraviglia back to New York for the 2026-27 winter season. Those plans changed, and the New York season was canceled.
Instead, the ship will sail from PortMiami with six- to eight-night Caribbean cruises. Stops will include Grand Turk, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, and more.
Southern Caribbean Debut in 2027-28
The Meraviglia’s journey doesn’t stop there. After a summer serving the U.K. market, the ship is set to debut in the Southern Caribbean for the 2027-28 season.
Those sailings will depart from the French Antilles. This opens up a whole new set of destinations for MSC fans to explore.
What This Means for New York Cruisers
If you loved sailing out of Brooklyn with MSC, this is a big change. The convenience of a New York home port made MSC a popular choice for East Coast travelers.
The good news is that the Meraviglia is heading to some exciting places. Miami is an easy alternative for many U.S. travelers looking to sail with MSC.
