Now a Category 1 hurricane with 85 mph winds, Ernesto continues to disrupt cruise ship itineraries in the Eastern Caribbean and Bermuda.

Major cruise lines like Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Carnival Cruise Line have all confirmed schedule changes due to the storm.

Four Royal Caribbean ships had to alter their routes, including the Symphony of the Seas. This ship, departing from Cape Liberty, swapped a visit to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic for an additional stop in Nassau, Bahamas.

Another Royal Caribbean ship, the Rhapsody of the Seas, which sails in the Southern Caribbean, is now progressing through its cruise in reverse order.

Other affected Royal Caribbean vessels include the Icon of the Seas, which adjusted its Western Caribbean itinerary, and the Liberty of the Seas, which canceled a stop in Bermuda.

The Carnival Magic, sailing from Miami, also underwent significant itinerary changes. The ship dropped a planned visit to Puerto Rico in favor of a stop in Nassau. On a scheduled visit to Grand Turk, it had to leave several hours earlier than planned due to worsening weather.

Similarly, the Carnival Pride altered its Bermuda cruise itinerary by advancing its visit to King’s Wharf to avoid the storm. Carnival Cruise Line added that they are closely monitoring the plans for the Carnival Freedom and Mardi Gras for possible changes.

Norwegian Cruise Line also saw disruptions. Two ships, the Norwegian Breakaway and the Norwegian Sky, were diverted from their Eastern Caribbean routes to alternate Western Caribbean destinations. The Breakaway is now heading to Mexico, Belize, and Honduras, while the Sky is traveling to Honduras, Belize, Mexico, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica.
