What to Expect Onboard

Ships sailing in North American waters on July 4th will host a lively party as part of the “Soundtrack of America” program. Expect live music performances that celebrate the best of American sounds.

Beyond the music, guests can join in on lawn games, Fourth of July trivia, and scavenger hunts. Live cooking demonstrations will also highlight classic American flavors and food traditions.

Patriotic Food and Drinks

The menus onboard will get a red, white, and blue makeover for the holiday. Guests can look forward to patriotic-themed breakfast and dinner options. Special Independence Day-inspired drinks will also be available.

The “Stars & Stripes” Cruise: A Special Sailing

One cruise stands out from the rest. Holland America’s “America’s 250th Celebration: Stars & Stripes” cruise sets sail from Boston, Massachusetts, on July 4th aboard the Zuiderdam.

This special sailing visits historically significant American cities, including Norfolk, Virginia. Guests will also enjoy an overnight stay in New York City. A “Great American Songbook” concert celebrating iconic American music will be held onboard.

Exclusive Keepsakes

Passengers on the Stars & Stripes cruise will receive a special bandana created just for this voyage. Guests on other holiday cruises will take home a commemorative America’s 250th anniversary keepsake pin.

Why This Celebration Matters

Michael Stendebach, Senior Vice President of Food, Beverage and Rooms Division for Holland America Line, summed it up well:

“From live entertainment and themed events to American-inspired dining and our special ‘Stars & Stripes’ cruise, these experiences are designed to capture the energy and pride that make this milestone so meaningful. We have worked with intention to create moments that feel fun, memorable and connective.”

America’s 250th anniversary is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone. Celebrating it at sea — with great food, live music, and meaningful stops along the East Coast — sounds like a pretty unforgettable way to mark the occasion.
