Five U.S. cruise passengers found themselves in serious legal trouble after a violent incident at a Bahamian port. Here’s what happened.
Cruise Passengers Arrested After Fight in Nassau
On June 8, authorities in Nassau, Bahamas, responded to a fight involving cruise ship passengers at the port. The Royal Bahamas Police Force confirmed in a news release that officers stepped in and arrested two men and three women.

The trouble did not stop there. When police tried to search the suspects at the station, things got much worse.
What Happened at the Police Station
The situation turned violent once the group arrived at the station. According to the official release, “One female suspect allegedly threw a chair through a southern glass door, causing it to shatter.”
The chaos continued from there. The release stated that “a male suspect then allegedly kicked out the remaining glass and attempted to escape, but was immediately subdued by officers. Additional police units were requested to assist in restoring order.”
Injuries on Both Sides
The five cruise passengers received treatment for minor injuries from the original port fight. However, the situation at the station caused more serious harm.
Four police officers were injured during the struggle at the station. One officer suffered what was described as “a serious injury to his left shoulder” and was taken to the hospital. Several police uniforms were also damaged during the incident.
Charges the Passengers Now Face
All five travelers face multiple serious charges. Police are investigating them for the following offenses:
- Assaulting a police officer
- Fighting in a public place
- Resisting arrest
- Malicious damage
- Disorderly behavior in a police station
Authorities did not release the names of the suspects. They also did not identify the cruise ship or the cruise line the passengers were sailing with.
A Reminder for Cruise Travelers
This incident is a strong reminder that local laws apply the moment you step off a cruise ship. Port destinations like Nassau have their own legal systems. Behavior that might seem minor can lead to serious consequences far from home.
Staying calm and respectful in port can protect your safety — and your vacation.
