Disney Dream Makes Maiden Visit to Funchal

The Disney Dream arrived in Funchal on September 16, 2026, for its maiden visit to Portugal's Madeira Island.

According to the Administration of the Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM), the Disney Cruise Line vessel brought 2,645 passengers and 1,436 crew members to the destination.

A traditional plaque exchange ceremony was held during the visit, with shipping agency representatives and local authorities joining ship officers onboard.

Board of Directors Member Isabel Figueiroa represented APRAM for the ceremony, which was also attended by officials from Funchal's health authorities, customs, navy and more.

Wrapping up its summer season in Europe, the Disney Dream arrived in Funchal as part of a trans-Atlantic crossing that started in England.

Sailing from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale, the 13-night repositioning voyage includes visits to destinations in Spain and Portugal.

In addition to Funchal, the ship is scheduled to sail to Vigo and Lisbon before arriving in Port Everglades later this month.

The Disney Dream will then offer three- to seven-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas departing from Fort Lauderdale.

Before embarking on its repositioning voyage to Florida, the 2011-built vessel offered a series of itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

Disney Cruise Line is now scheduled to return to Madeira Island in May 2027 with a visit from the Disney Wish.

The 2022-built ship will visit Funchal during a trans-Atlantic crossing, which will be followed by the vessel's first season in Europe.

Sailing from Port Canaveral to Barcelona, the 13-night repositioning cruise will also visit Gibraltar in the United Kingdom and Cartagena in Spain.

The Disney Wish will then offer seven- to ten-night cruises in the Mediterranean from ports in Spain and Italy before repositioning to Northern Europe in mid-July. The ship will sail from Southampton through mid-September.
