Carnival Cruise Line is shaking up how it rewards loyal guests — and the changes are pretty exciting for frequent sailors.

Carnival Rewards: What’s Replacing the VIFP Club

Carnival’s long-running VIFP Club loyalty program is getting a full makeover. The new program is called Carnival Rewards, and it’s set to launch in September 2026. The VIFP Club has been around since 2012, so this is a big deal for loyal Carnival cruisers.

Carnival President Christine Duffy recently sat down with Brand Ambassador John Heald to walk through the details. Here’s what you need to know.

Days Sailed — Not Number of Cruises — Now Count

The biggest change is how Carnival tracks your loyalty. Instead of counting the number of cruises you’ve taken, the new program counts the total number of days you’ve spent onboard.

This is great news if you prefer longer voyages. As Duffy explained, “For people who tend to take longer cruises, it used to take them just as long as someone who has taken shorter cruises to get to the milestones.”

The shift makes the program fairer for all types of cruisers. “With the new program, passengers will be able to achieve milestones faster using days sailed rather than just counting individual cruises,” she added.

How the Milestone Rewards Work

Once you opt into Carnival Rewards, your past cruises get converted into days. Then you start working toward new milestones. Here’s a quick look at the points you can earn:

• 50 days sailed → 5,000 Carnival Rewards points
• 100 days sailed → 10,000 points
• 500 days sailed → 10,000 additional points
• Every 100 days after that → another 10,000 points

Beyond points, Carnival is also offering commemorative coins, onboard credit, and onboard recognition at key milestones. Those are nice touches that make the rewards feel more personal.

What Can You Do With Your Points?

Duffy highlighted that the new points can be redeemed for “almost anything onboard.” That includes shore excursions, spa treatments, specialty dining, and beverage packages.

You can also earn points at Carnival’s private destinations. Both Celebration Key and RelaxAway at Half Moon Cay qualify for earning rewards. If you have the Carnival Mastercard credit card, your everyday spending earns points too.

New Sail & Sign Card Design

Carnival is also rolling out a redesigned Sail & Sign card to go along with the new program. The new cards have a vertical layout and display your total days sailed right on the card.

Each loyalty tier gets its own color, and the cards feature the new Carnival Rewards logo. It’s a small but visible change that shows off your cruising history.

What If You’re Already in the VIFP Club?

Current VIFP members don’t lose what they’ve earned. You’ll still have time to use your existing benefits. Duffy confirmed that members have until the end of 2030 to use any unused VIFP perks.

Here’s the key thing to remember — you’ll need to opt in to make the switch. “They’ll still have to opt in to the new program; their number of total days will show on the card, and then they can work towards the new milestone on the new program,” Duffy said.

So keep an eye out for when enrollment opens ahead of the September 2026 launch.
