Carnival Freedom Makes Maiden Call to Valletta

The Carnival Freedom recently made its maiden visit to the Valletta Cruise Port, according to a social media update.

Offering an eight-night cruise to the Western Mediterranean, the Carnival Cruise Line vessel arrived in Malta for the first time on Oct. 15, 2026.

A special welcome ceremony was held onboard to mark the maiden call, with local authorities and port officials joining the vessel's team for a plaque and gift exchange.

"The call showcased Malta's enduring appeal as a Mediterranean cruise destination, renowned for its rich history, cultural heritage and unique island experiences," Valletta Cruise Port said.

The port operator noted that the Freedom became the fifth Carnival ship to visit Malta, following the Carnival Vista, the Carnival Horizon, the Carnival Pride and the Carnival Legend.

"Valletta Cruise Port extends its appreciation to the Captain, crew and guests of the Carnival Freedom for their visit and wishes them fair winds and smooth sailing on the remainder of their voyage," it added.

In addition to Malta, the ship's eight-night cruise in the Western Mediterranean sailed to France, Italy and Spain. Departing from Barcelona, the itinerary featured visits to Marseille, Livorno, Civitavecchia and Naples.

After pausing its regular operations in Florida and the Bahamas, the Carnival Freedom arrived in Europe in early September for a drydock.

Part of the vessel's routine maintenance schedule, the project was carried out at the Chantier Naval de Marseille in France and also included the installation of a new funnel.

The 110,000-ton ship welcomed guests back in early October, offering a single cruise in the Western Mediterranean before embarking on a trans-Atlantic crossing to Port Canaveral.

In early November, the Carnival Freedom will resume its regular schedule of four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas sailing from Central Florida.

The ship's itineraries sail to Nassau and the company's private island destinations in the island country, including Celebration Key and RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay.
