Zaandam Wraps Alaska Season With Great Bear Rainforest Cruise

The Zaandam is currently sailing Holland America Line's "Great Bear Rainforest and Alaska Explorer" cruise.

Sailing roundtrip from Vancouver, the 18-night voyage calls at 11 destinations in Alaska and Canada.

Highlights include calls at ports less frequently visited by cruise ships, such as Prince Rupert, Homer and Anchorage, where the vessel will stay overnight.

The Zaandam is also scheduled to call at Kodiak, Sitka, Valdez, Wrangell, Juneau and Ketchikan, with scenic cruising at Hubbard Glacier and in Glacier Bay.

The cruise, which wraps up the ship's Alaska season, ends in Vancouver in early October.

The 1,440-passenger ship is then scheduled to reposition to San Diego for itineraries to the Mexican Riviera, Hawaii and the South Pacific.

Its fall and winter program includes the five-week "Legendary Hawaii, Tahiti & Marquesas" voyage, sailing roundtrip from San Diego.

Departing in mid-October, the 35-night itinerary visits 13 destinations in the region.

Part of the company's Legendary Voyages, the cruise includes overnight stays in Tahiti and Honolulu, plus calls at Fanning Island, Nuku Hiva, Bora Bora, Huahine and more.

Before repositioning to Fort Lauderdale in December, the Zaandam is also scheduled to offer a 12-night cruise to the Sea of Cortez.

According to Holland America, the itinerary sails to historic destinations in the Sea of Cortez and along Mexico's Pacific coast, including Guaymas, Topolobampo, Loreto, La Paz, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Ensenada and Mazatlán.

In early 2027, the Zaandam sets out on a 70-night voyage that circumnavigates South America roundtrip from Port Everglades.

Along with Caribbean calls, the sailing features scenic cruising along the Antarctic Peninsula and around Cape Horn.

Other highlights include a call at Belém, near the mouth of the Amazon River in Brazil, and a three-day stay in Buenos Aires.
