Princess Adjusts Hawaii Itinerary Due to Hurricane

Princess Cruises is adjusting the itinerary of the current cruise to Hawaii onboard the Ruby Princess due to Hurricane Lowell.

According to a statement sent to guests before embarkation, a visit to Nawiliwili had to be cancelled due to the impact of the storm on the island of Kauai.

The call was scheduled to take place on September 22, 2026, and will be replaced with additional time in Honolulu, Princess said.

The company explained that the Ruby Princess will now arrive in Honolulu earlier on September 22, before spending a night in port and departing as scheduled on September 23, 2026.

For guests with Princess shore excursions booked for Kauai, full refunds will be issued to their original form of payment. The company also said that it was preparing new shore excursions for the extended call in Honolulu.

Sailing roundtrip from San Francisco, the Ruby Princess is currently offering a 16-night cruise to Hawaii and Mexico.

In addition to the new overnight visit to Honolulu, the sailing features calls to Kailua Kona, Kahului and Ensenada. Guests will also spend ten full days cruising the Pacific Ocean.

Hurricane Lowell impacted the Western Hawaiian Islands between August 27 and September 13, 2026.

The storm, which peaked at Category 5, made a direct hit on Niihau and Kauai, causing damage to structures, as well as water and power outages in various areas.

Other companies also had to adjust their itineraries due to the impact from Lowell, including Norwegian Cruise Line.

Offering inter-island cruises in Hawaii, the Pride of America cancelled its visit to Kauai on its current cruise, which sailed from Honolulu on September 12, 2026.

Instead of visiting the island, the ship's new itinerary included an overnight visit to Hilo, in addition to planned stops in Kahului and Kailua Kona.
