CroisiEurope offers guided hikes along some of the most scenic trails in Europe.
Many river cruise passengers are outdoorsy types in search of unique things to do ashore. In response to their active guests’ requests, CroisiEurope hiking programs have been expanded to include four more popular cruise itineraries.
Because not everyone wants to hike, river cruises that offer hiking excursions also offer non-hiking, traditional shore excursions. Of the four new cruises with the added hiking program, two cruises are six-days and two cruises are eight-days in length.
The following 2016 cruise itineraries offer the Hike and Cruise programs:
These Hike and Cruise programs will be added to four new itineraries and feature guided walks through some of the most picturesque landscapes during the day, topped with cruising along Europe’s most magnificent rivers at night. These cruises are also available with a non-hiking excursion program.
Hike & Cruise programs are available on the following itineraries for the remainder of the 2016 cruise season:
- Walking in the Gironde Region: A mid-September, six-day cruise round trip from Bordeaux with guided walks through the vineyards and marshlands of the Medoc, the valleys of the Dordogne and the Garonne, the slopes and vineyards of Blaye and Bourg, and through the Gironde hills and along the estuary.
- The Romantic Rhine Valley: This six-day cruises the Rhine River from Strasbourg to Cologne and offers walking tours to the Pfalzer Wald National Park, the Cistercian Abbey at Eberbach, the legendary Loreley Rock and the extinct volcanic domes of the Siebengebirdge on the East bank of the Rhine. The cruise departs October 12, 2016.
- The Douro Valley: Eight-day Douro River cruise round trip from Porto with guided tours with a qualified mountain guide through Vila Real, Salamanca and Porto including the Alvao National Park, the Douro National Park and the many vineyards along the coastline of Porto. The cruise departs October 10, 2016.
- Hiking in the Former Austro-Hungarian Empire: An eight-day October 17, 2016 Danube river cruise round trip from Vienna offers hikes in the Wachau Valley, the Little Carpathians, Budapest, Visegrad and in Leopoldsberg.
