AmaWaterways, with a fleet of twelve river cruise ships in Europe, Russia, Vietnam and Cambodia, has received two 2011 Gold Magellan Awards from Travel Weekly Magazine.
Judged by a panel of travel industry experts, the Magellan Awards honors the best in travel in an array of industry segments. Travel Weekly honored AmaWaterways with a Gold Magellan award in the Overall/River Cruising category and also bestowed a Gold Magellan award on the MS La Marguerite in the River Cruise Ship category.
“We are extremely proud to receive these two prestigious Gold Magellan Awards from Travel Weekly. Knowing that the awards are judged by industry experts with extremely high standards of excellence makes this honor for MS La La Marguerite and for our overall cruise line even more satisfying,” said Rudi Schreiner, President of AmaWaterways.
“This year’s Magellan Award winners have once again impressed the judges with their creativity and sense of style,” said Arnie Weissmann, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly. He added, “The recipients of the Magellans truly represent the best of the industry, and their accomplishments are inspiring.”
The gold-medal winning MS La Marguerite established a new standard of luxury cruising on the Mekong River in Cambodia and Vietnam when she debuted in 2009. With a design that combines colonial elegance with local artifacts and regional Mekong touches, the MS La Marguerite provides an exquisite setting for an unforgettable Mekong river odyssey. Staterooms, Jr. Suites and Suites aboard the MS La Marguerite range in size from 226-452 sq. ft., with more than 82 percent featuring outside balconies.
Stateroom amenities include sitting areas, individually controlled air-conditioning, mini-bar, safety deposit box, shower, separate tub (Jr. Suites/Suites); bathrobes, slippers and hairdryer. Inviting public areas include a restaurant serving Asian and Western specialties; Saigon Lounge; Panoramic Lounge and Library; Gift Shop; Fitness Center and Spa. The expansive Sun Deck is a haven for relaxation, and includes an outdoor swimming pool and Sun Deck Bar, the perfect place to enjoy sunsets over the Mekong.
Celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2012, AmaWaterways leads the way in river cruising with its innovative custom-designed ships, extensive complimentary amenities and personalized service levels. The line’s fleet in Europe includes the MS AmaVerde (2011); MS AmaBella (2010); MS AmaLyra (2009); MS AmaDolce (2009); MS AmaCello (2008); MS AmaDante (2008); MS AmaLegro (2007) and the MS AmaDagio (2006).
